Align your background to Google's BD focus areas
Google's business development roles typically center on cloud partnerships, platform ecosystems, and enterprise go-to-market. Tailor your resume to reflect deal structures, partner integrations, or revenue-driving initiatives that map directly to Google Cloud, YouTube, or Android product lines.
Distinguish E-3 eligibility before you apply
If you're an Australian citizen, the E-3 visa gives you a faster, lottery-free path into a Google BD role. Confirm your degree field aligns with the specialty occupation requirement before your first recruiter call, since that question comes up early.
Prepare for role-specific USCIS specialty occupation scrutiny
USCIS increasingly scrutinizes business development roles for specialty occupation status. Document how your position requires a specific bachelor's degree field, not just any degree. Job description language and your offer letter both factor into how Google's immigration team builds the H-1B petition.
Target Google BD roles using verified sponsorship data
Browse Business Development Professional openings at Google filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is confirmed rather than assumed from a general careers page disclaimer.
Get your LCA documentation straight before the offer stage
Google's immigration team files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your H-1B petition can move forward. If you're switching from another visa status, understand your authorized start date and how your current status interacts with the LCA effective date.

Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Professionals?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development Professional roles. The process follows the standard H-1B cap cycle, with USCIS registration typically opening in March and an April 1 filing window. Google works with immigration counsel to build petitions that document the specialty occupation requirement, which is especially important for BD titles since USCIS reviews these carefully.
Which visa types does Google commonly use for Business Development Professional roles?
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for Business Development Professional positions. The H-1B is the most common path for non-Australian, non-Chilean or -Singaporean nationals. Australian citizens can use the E-3, which has no lottery and a dedicated annual allocation. Chilean and Singaporean nationals may qualify for the H-1B1. Eligibility depends on nationality, degree field, and the specific role's requirements.
How do I apply for Business Development Professional jobs at Google?
Applications go through Google's careers portal at careers.google.com, where BD roles are listed by product area and region. You can also find Google Business Development Professional openings filtered by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which helps you confirm sponsorship before investing time in the application. Most BD roles at Google require a structured interview process covering strategic thinking, cross-functional collaboration, and deal or partnership experience.
What qualifications does Google expect for Business Development Professional roles?
Google's BD roles typically require a bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, or a related field, with many senior roles preferring an MBA. Beyond credentials, Google looks for demonstrated experience managing complex partnerships, structuring deals, or driving go-to-market strategy in technology or software environments. Familiarity with Google's product ecosystem, such as Google Cloud or Google Workspace, strengthens your candidacy significantly.
How do I estimate the timeline from offer to work authorization at Google?
Timeline depends on your visa type and current status. For H-1B transfers from another sponsoring employer, Google can file immediately and you can start within a few weeks of receipt notice. For new H-1B cap cases, you'll need to wait for the April 1 filing window and an October 1 start date at the earliest. E-3 consular processing in Australia typically runs two to four weeks from interview scheduling to visa stamp in hand.
