Align your portfolio to Google's stack
Google's Full Stack roles consistently emphasize Go, Python, TypeScript, and internal frameworks built on Kubernetes and GCP. Tailor your portfolio projects to reflect distributed systems experience, not just CRUD applications, before you apply.
Target teams actively filing LCAs
Google files Labor Condition Applications with the DOL by team and job title. Search the DOL's FLAG system for recent LCA filings under 'Software Engineer' job titles to identify which product areas are actively hiring sponsored roles right now.
Distinguish your visa category early
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, and E-3 visas for this role. If you're an Australian or Chilean national, clarify your category with the recruiter upfront. E-3 and H-1B1 have no lottery, which affects your start date and filing timeline significantly.
Prepare for the specialty occupation standard
USCIS requires your degree field to directly relate to your job duties. For Full Stack Engineer roles, a degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field strengthens your petition. Hybrid degrees paired with unrelated work history can draw RFEs.
Time your offer around the H-1B cap cycle
If you need H-1B sponsorship, Google must register you in the March lottery for an October 1 start. Receiving an offer in January gives you the narrowest window to prepare. Aim to be interview-ready by Q4 of the prior year.
Use Migrate Mate to find open roles
Full Stack Engineer openings at Google that explicitly support visa sponsorship can be hard to filter on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to browse verified sponsoring roles at Google and surface positions matched to your visa type.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for Full Stack Engineers?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for Full Stack Engineers. The process involves Google filing a Labor Condition Application with the DOL, followed by an I-129 petition with USCIS. Because the H-1B is subject to an annual cap and lottery, timing your offer and application relative to the April registration window is critical to securing an October 1 start date.
How do I apply for Full Stack Engineer jobs at Google?
Applications go through Google's careers portal, where you can filter by role and location. The interview process for Full Stack Engineers typically includes multiple rounds covering coding, system design, and behavioral assessments. Migrate Mate surfaces Google's Full Stack Engineer openings that are confirmed to support visa sponsorship, so you can focus your effort on roles that match your authorization needs.
Which visa types does Google sponsor for Full Stack Engineers?
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, and E-3 visas for Full Stack Engineer roles. H-1B is the most common and open to nationals of any country, but it requires clearing the annual USCIS lottery. H-1B1 is available to Chilean and Singaporean nationals with no lottery requirement. E-3 is exclusive to Australian citizens and also has no lottery, making it a faster path for eligible candidates.
What qualifications does Google expect for Full Stack Engineer roles?
Google's Full Stack Engineer roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a directly related field, which also satisfies the USCIS specialty occupation standard. Practically, Google's bar emphasizes proficiency in at least one backend language such as Go or Python, frontend frameworks like React or Angular, and familiarity with large-scale distributed systems or cloud infrastructure, particularly GCP.
How do I navigate the visa filing timeline after receiving a Google offer?
Once you have a signed offer, Google's immigration team engages external counsel to file your Labor Condition Application with the DOL, which must be certified before the visa petition can be submitted. For H-1B, the filing window opens in April with an October start. For E-3 and H-1B1 visa, petitions can be filed year-round. Build at least four to six weeks of buffer between offer acceptance and your intended start date to account for DOL and USCIS processing.
