Frame your credentials around partnership outcomes
Google's BD hiring teams look for demonstrated revenue impact and cross-functional deal experience, not just relationship management. Quantify the partnerships you've closed and the internal stakeholders you've aligned, so your resume speaks Google's language before the interview stage.
Target Google's industry verticals strategically
BD Manager roles at Google are often aligned to specific verticals like Cloud, Ads, or Platforms. Applying to a vertical where your domain expertise is strongest increases your odds of clearing the hiring committee, which directly affects whether sponsorship gets initiated.
Understand which visa fits your citizenship
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for this role. If you're Australian, the E-3 has no lottery and renews indefinitely in two-year increments. If you're on H-1B, confirm your registration status before accepting an offer, since the annual lottery cap affects timing.
Clarify sponsorship intent during recruiter screening
Google's recruiters handle sponsorship questions at the offer stage, but surfacing your visa situation early prevents late-stage delays. Ask directly whether the specific BD team you're interviewing with has sponsored the visa type you need in the past.
Account for LCA filing in your start date negotiation
Before USCIS can approve your petition, Google's legal team must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL. This step takes time and must complete before your I-129 is submitted, so build at least four to six weeks into any proposed start date timeline.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open BD roles at Google
BD Manager openings at Google move quickly and aren't always flagged as visa-friendly on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Google Business Development Manager roles that are open to sponsored candidates, so you're not wasting time on listings that won't apply.

Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Managers?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development Manager roles. Because the H-1B is subject to an annual cap and lottery, your petition must be selected before Google can proceed with the full filing. Google's legal team manages the USCIS petition process internally, but you'll need to coordinate timing with your recruiter around the April registration window.
How do I apply for Business Development Manager jobs at Google?
Applications go through Google's careers portal, but BD Manager roles are competitive and often filled through referrals or direct recruiter outreach. Tailor your resume to the specific vertical you're targeting, whether that's Google Cloud, Ads, or another division. Migrate Mate lists open Business Development Manager positions at Google filtered for visa sponsorship eligibility, which makes it easier to find the right opening before applying.
What visa types does Google commonly use for Business Development Managers?
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for Business Development Manager roles. H-1B is the most common pathway for candidates from most countries. H-1B1 is available to citizens of Chile and Singapore and is not subject to the lottery. E-3 is exclusive to Australian citizens and is typically the fastest path, since it also bypasses the lottery and can be renewed indefinitely.
What qualifications does Google expect for a sponsored Business Development Manager?
Google generally looks for a bachelor's degree in business, economics, or a related field, plus several years of experience in partnerships, enterprise sales, or strategy in a technology environment. For visa purposes, your degree must align with the specialty occupation standard under H-1B regulations, meaning the role requires that specific field of study. BD candidates with SaaS, cloud, or platform experience tend to align most cleanly with Google's open roles.
How do I think about timeline if I need Google to sponsor my visa?
If you need an H-1B, the timeline is largely dictated by USCIS. Registration opens in March, selection happens in late March, and petitions are filed by June 30 for an October 1 start date. E-3 and H-1B1 visas don't follow this calendar and can be processed consularly in a matter of weeks. Build this into your job search so you're interviewing at Google at the right point in the filing cycle.
