Frame your cybersecurity sales credentials clearly
Fortinet's BDM roles sit at the intersection of technical knowledge and revenue generation. Before applying, align your resume to highlight experience selling enterprise security, networking, or SaaS solutions. Generic sales backgrounds get filtered out quickly at this level.
Verify your role qualifies as a specialty occupation
H-1B eligibility requires your position to demand at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. For a BDM role, USCIS scrutinizes whether the duties are sufficiently specialized. A degree in business, marketing, or information systems paired with technical sales experience strengthens your petition considerably.
Target Fortinet's channel and enterprise segments directly
Fortinet structures BDM hiring around named verticals like MSSP partnerships, federal accounts, and regional enterprise territory. Applying to roles aligned with your existing industry network, rather than open geographic postings, increases your relevance to the hiring team and speeds the sponsorship conversation.
Initiate the LCA conversation before signing an offer
Fortinet must file a Labor Condition Application with DOL certifying your offered wage meets prevailing levels for your work location before submitting your H-1B petition to USCIS. Ask HR explicitly about this timeline during offer negotiation so you understand when your start date is realistically achievable.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open BDM roles at Fortinet
Fortinet posts BDM openings across multiple regions and verticals at different times of year. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Fortinet roles that include visa sponsorship so you're not manually screening postings that won't support your work authorization.
Understand your OPT or TN timeline before the H-1B cap
If you're on F-1 OPT, you have a fixed authorization window before you need a cap-subject H-1B. Fortinet's sponsorship process takes time, so confirm your OPT expiration date and work backward from the April USCIS filing window to decide whether to pursue a cap-exempt bridge or wait for the next lottery cycle.

Does Fortinet sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Managers?
Yes, Fortinet sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development Manager roles. The process requires Fortinet to first obtain a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL, then file Form I-129 with USCIS during the annual cap season. Because BDM roles involve a mix of technical and commercial responsibilities, your petition should clearly document how the position requires a specific bachelor's degree field, not just general business knowledge.
How do I apply for Business Development Manager jobs at Fortinet?
Apply directly through Fortinet's careers portal, targeting BDM postings aligned with your industry background, whether that's channel partnerships, enterprise accounts, or a specific vertical like financial services or federal. During the application process, disclose your visa sponsorship needs early. Fortinet's HR team will coordinate with legal counsel once you reach the offer stage to confirm eligibility and initiate the appropriate filing.
Which visa types does Fortinet commonly use for Business Development Manager roles?
Fortinet sponsors H-1B visas as the primary work authorization path for BDM roles, alongside TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible occupations. For longer-term employees, Fortinet supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process. F-1 OPT and CPT holders can also work in BDM roles while their full H-1B sponsorship is being processed.
What qualifications does Fortinet expect for a sponsored Business Development Manager?
Fortinet typically expects a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, computer science, or a related field, combined with experience in enterprise technology sales or channel development. Familiarity with cybersecurity solutions, partner ecosystems, or network security products gives candidates a clear advantage. Because H-1B sponsorship requires demonstrating specialty occupation status, having a degree directly relevant to the role strengthens both your application and the visa petition.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Fortinet BDM role?
For H-1B sponsorship, Fortinet must file between January and April for an October 1 start date. DOL LCA certification typically takes one to two weeks. If you need an earlier start, USCIS premium processing can return an I-129 decision within 15 business days. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at the border in a single day. Browse open Fortinet BDM roles with confirmed sponsorship on Migrate Mate to understand current hiring timelines.
