Target cybersecurity and engineering roles first
Fortinet's core business is network security, so roles in threat intelligence, firewall engineering, and cloud security are where sponsorship is most common. Focusing your application on these technical areas puts you where Fortinet's sponsorship activity is strongest.
Understand that Fortinet sponsors multiple visa types
Fortinet sponsors H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT, as well as Green Card pathways. If you're on OPT, Fortinet is worth targeting early since the company has experience managing the full immigration lifecycle from student status through permanent residence.
Apply before OPT deadlines, not after
Fortinet's H-1B and OPT sponsorship experience means they understand student visa timelines, but internal approvals still take time. Start your outreach several months before your OPT expiration so there's runway for offer, petition filing, and USCIS processing.
Highlight certifications relevant to Fortinet's product ecosystem
Fortinet runs its own certification program (NSE). Candidates who demonstrate familiarity with FortiGate, FortiSIEM, or related technologies stand out in technical hiring. Relevant credentials signal you can contribute quickly, which matters when a team is deciding whether to invest in sponsorship.
Use Migrate Mate to verify Fortinet's sponsorship history before applying
Not every job posting makes sponsorship eligibility clear. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and confirm Fortinet is actively sponsoring before you invest time in the application process.
Consider Fortinet's global footprint as a TN advantage
Fortinet has offices across the U.S. and operates internationally, making it a practical fit for Canadian professionals pursuing TN visas. If you're a Canadian national in a qualifying role like engineer or computer systems analyst, Fortinet's active sponsorship record makes it a strong target.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Fortinet sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Fortinet sponsors H-1B visas. The company is an active H-1B sponsor with a consistent track record across technical and engineering roles. Sponsorship is most common in cybersecurity, software development, and network infrastructure positions. If you're targeting Fortinet on H-1B, roles aligned with their core security product lines tend to have the strongest sponsorship history.
Which visa types does Fortinet sponsor?
Fortinet sponsors H-1B, TN visa, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT visas, along with Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. This makes Fortinet a strong option whether you're a recent graduate on OPT, a Canadian national eligible for TN visa, or an experienced professional looking for a long-term permanent residence pathway supported by your employer.
What types of roles at Fortinet are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Fortinet is concentrated in technical roles, particularly cybersecurity engineering, network security, software development, cloud infrastructure, and threat intelligence. These functions sit at the center of Fortinet's business, and the company has a documented history of sponsoring international talent in these areas. Sales and non-technical roles receive sponsorship less frequently.
What does the visa sponsorship process look like when applying to Fortinet?
After receiving a job offer, Fortinet's HR and legal teams typically initiate the sponsorship process. For H-1B, this involves Labor Condition Application filing with the DOL followed by the USCIS petition. For OPT extensions, timing is critical and should be discussed during the offer stage. Expect several weeks of internal processing before external filings begin, so raise sponsorship needs early in conversations.
How do I find open roles at Fortinet that offer visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most efficient way to find Fortinet roles with confirmed sponsorship history. Rather than filtering through generic job postings, Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for positions at verified sponsors like Fortinet and cross-reference visa types the company actively supports, so you're not applying blind on the question of whether they'll sponsor your specific situation.
