Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Product Owner Jobs at Google Jobs
Frame your PM experience around Google's scale
Google evaluates Product Owner candidates on their ability to define strategy for products used by millions. Before applying, reframe your resume around measurable impact, cross-functional ownership, and data-driven decisions rather than feature delivery tasks.
Verify your role qualifies as a specialty occupation
USCIS requires H-1B roles to meet the specialty occupation standard. For Product Owner positions, this means demonstrating the job requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in a specific field like computer science, engineering, or business. Confirm your offer letter reflects this clearly.
Target Google teams with active LCA filings
Google files Labor Condition Applications with the DOL before sponsoring any H-1B. Searching DOL's OFLC disclosure data by employer name and job title reveals which Google teams and locations have recently filed for Product Owner roles, narrowing where to focus your applications.
Understand the E-3 advantage if you're Australian
Google sponsors the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and can be filed year-round. If you hold Australian citizenship, an E-3 application avoids the H-1B April lottery window entirely, meaning your start date can align directly with when Google extends an offer.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Product Owner roles by sponsorship type
Google posts Product Owner openings across multiple business units simultaneously, and not all roles come with the same visa options. Use Migrate Mate to filter Google's active listings by visa type so you're only applying to roles where your specific sponsorship pathway is confirmed.
Align your timeline to the H-1B cap and Google's hiring cycle
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March for an October 1 start date. Google typically hires Product Owners on rolling cycles, so targeting interviews in late 2025 or early 2026 positions you to have an offer in hand before the registration window opens.

Find Product Owner at Google JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for Product Owners?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for Product Owner roles. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards because it requires a degree in a specific field such as computer science, engineering, or business. Google handles the H-1B petition process through its internal immigration team, which coordinates with outside counsel on filings.
How do I apply for Product Owner jobs at Google?
Applications go through Google's careers portal, but Product Owner openings are spread across multiple teams and locations, making it easy to miss relevant postings. The clearest path is to search by role title and filter for visa sponsorship eligibility. Migrate Mate lists Google's active Product Owner openings filtered by sponsorship type, so you can focus on positions where your visa pathway is already confirmed before applying.
Which visa types does Google sponsor for Product Owner roles?
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for Product Owner positions. H-1B is the most common path and requires winning the annual USCIS lottery. H-1B1 is available to Chilean and Singaporean nationals without a lottery. E-3 is available exclusively to Australian citizens and also bypasses the H-1B lottery, making it a faster route if you qualify.
What qualifications does Google expect for Product Owner roles?
Google's Product Owner roles typically require a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, along with demonstrable experience owning a product end-to-end. Candidates who have worked on consumer-scale or platform products tend to be competitive. For visa purposes, your degree needs to directly align with the role's stated requirements to satisfy USCIS's specialty occupation standard.
How do I time my application around the H-1B process at Google?
USCIS opens H-1B registration each March for an October 1 start date. To align with this window, you need an offer from Google finalized before early March so the company can include you in the registration lottery. Targeting Google's Product Owner interview process in late autumn or winter gives you the best chance of completing hiring before the registration deadline.
