Align your resume to Google's expectations
Google evaluates Product Engineering Managers on technical depth and cross-functional leadership. Frame your experience around system design decisions, roadmap ownership, and engineering team scale rather than generic project management language.
Prepare for Google's structured hiring loop early
Google's Product Engineering Manager interview loop includes a dedicated technical systems round. Practice distributed systems design and coding interviews in parallel with your visa preparation so neither process delays the other.
Confirm sponsorship intent before the offer stage
Google's recruiting process is multi-round and time-intensive. Raise your visa status directly with your recruiter before the final loop, not after, so Google's immigration team can scope the petition type and timeline upfront.
Understand the LCA's role in your start date
Before USCIS can approve your H-1B, Google must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL certifying your offered wage meets the prevailing rate. LCA certification typically takes seven business days and must be completed first.
Use Migrate Mate to find open roles that sponsor
Searching broadly across job boards makes it hard to filter for employers actively sponsoring your visa type. Migrate Mate lets you browse Product Engineering Manager openings at Google and other tech employers that have a verified sponsorship track record.

Find Product Engineering Manager at Google JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for Product Engineering Managers?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for Product Engineering Managers. This role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical field, which satisfies the core H-1B eligibility threshold. Google works with immigration counsel to handle petition filings, and sponsorship is typically confirmed during the offer stage before any paperwork begins.
Which visa types does Google commonly use for Product Engineering Manager roles?
Google files H-1B petitions for most international hires, including cap-subject registrations each April. For Australian citizens, the E-3 is a strong alternative with a separate annual allocation and no lottery. Singapore nationals may qualify for the H-1B1. All three cover specialty occupation roles like Product Engineering Manager and allow Google to sponsor without waiting on a single annual cap window.
What qualifications does Google expect for a Product Engineering Manager?
Google generally expects a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field, along with hands-on engineering experience prior to moving into management. In practice, competitive candidates have led engineering teams of at least five to ten people, contributed to large-scale distributed systems, and can demonstrate direct ownership of shipped products. A master's degree or equivalent research background strengthens both the application and the visa petition.
How do I apply for Product Engineering Manager jobs at Google?
Applications go through Google's careers portal at careers.google.com. Roles are posted by team and location, so filtering by product area improves targeting. The hiring process runs four to six rounds, including a recruiter screen, a technical system design interview, a leadership and cross-functional interview, and a hiring committee review. You can also find open Product Engineering Manager roles at Google with confirmed visa sponsorship through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for international candidates.
How do I time my H-1B filing if I receive a Google offer?
If you're subject to the H-1B cap, Google must register you during the March lottery window for an October 1 start date. If you receive an offer outside that window, Google may file for a future cap year or explore cap-exempt options depending on your current status. Budget at least three to six months between offer acceptance and a confirmed start date to account for DOL Labor Condition Application certification, USCIS processing, and any premium processing elections.
