Every day, tens of millions of people come to Roblox to explore, create, play, learn, and connect with friends in 3D immersive digital experiences– all created by our global community of developers and creators.
At Roblox, we're building the tools and platform that empower our community to bring any experience that they can imagine to life. Our vision is to reimagine the way people come together, from anywhere in the world, and on any device. We're on a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility, and looking for amazing talent to help us get there.
A career at Roblox means you'll be working to shape the future of human interaction, solving unique technical challenges at scale, and helping to create safer, more civil shared experiences for everyone.
About the Role:
As a Senior Product Manager for Avatar Movement, you will help drive the vision and strategy for how avatars move, feel, and interact within the world. You will own key components of the character controller and movement systems, ensuring developers have the engine capabilities needed to tune user control, physics, and presence, delivering a seamless and expressive experience across millions of immersive 3D worlds.
You Will:
- Serve as the Product DRI for Avatar Movement initiatives, collaborating with leadership to define the roadmap for character control, physics interactions, and spatial presence.
- Engage deeply with the Roblox developer community to understand their needs for tuning, customizing, and scaling avatar movement in their unique experiences.
- Partner with engineering teams to dive into the technical nitty-gritty, making the right architectural and API design decisions for our proprietary engine that anticipate needs 1-3 years into the future.
- Write detailed product specifications that clearly align the roadmap and technical needs of Avatar Movement to executives, engineers, designers, and the broader product team.
- Build frameworks to drive alignment, then define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for complex movement systems, using both qualitative player feedback and quantitative data to iterate on the "feel" of movement.
- Act as a mentor and role model for junior product and engineering team members, fostering an inclusive environment of continuous learning and high-quality execution.
You Have:
- 5+ years of product management experience, specifically working on game engines, 3D character controllers, avatar animation, or core gameplay systems.
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical field. Shipped real products in this or an adjacent domain (e.g., AAA character controllers, game engines, multiplayer movement systems), where technical nuances like network replication or input lag fundamentally changed your approach.
- The ability to navigate domain-specific constraints (e.g., strict backward compatibility for millions of existing games, strict mobile performance budgets, proprietary engine limits) while still driving meaningful outcomes.
- A deep understanding of the users, workflows, and use cases in concrete detail—both the end-players who demand a highly responsive "feel," and the developers who need robust APIs and parameters to tune custom movement.

Tips for Finding Product Engineering Manager Jobs at Roblox
Align your portfolio to Roblox's platform scale
Roblox Product Engineering Managers typically oversee systems at massive concurrency and distributed infrastructure scale. Frame past projects around technical depth and cross-functional leadership rather than product ownership alone, since the role bridges engineering execution and product direction.
Confirm your visa category before applying
Roblox sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, H-1B1 visa, and F-1 OPT for engineering leadership roles. Knowing which category fits your citizenship and status before your first recruiter screen lets you answer sponsorship questions with precision instead of uncertainty.
Target teams where hiring velocity is highest
Roblox consistently opens Product Engineering Manager roles across Avatar, Economy, Trust and Safety, and Developer Platform. Researching which org has the most active postings and tailoring your outreach to that team's roadmap improves your conversion from application to screen.
Prepare for USCIS specialty occupation scrutiny
For H-1B petitions, USCIS scrutinizes whether a Product Engineering Manager role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Have your offer letter specify the technical degree requirement explicitly, and ensure your resume reflects hands-on engineering credentials alongside leadership experience.
Negotiate your start date around H-1B timelines
If you need a new H-1B petition, cap-subject filings are only accepted in early April for an October 1 start. Build that constraint into your offer negotiation so your start date aligns with USCIS processing windows and neither side is caught off guard.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Roblox sponsor H-1B visas for Product Engineering Managers?
Yes, Roblox sponsors H-1B visas for Product Engineering Manager roles. The company has a consistent history of filing petitions for engineering leadership positions. If you're subject to the H-1B cap, timing your application around the April filing window matters. Cap-exempt candidates, such as those transferring from a qualifying institution, may have more flexibility on start dates.
Which visa types does Roblox commonly use for Product Engineering Manager roles?
Roblox sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, E-3 visa, TN visa, EB-2, EB-3, and F-1 OPT extensions for engineering roles including Product Engineering Managers. Australian citizens should ask about the E-3 visa specifically, since it avoids the H-1B lottery. Canadian and Mexican citizens may qualify for TN visa status. F-1 OPT holders in STEM fields are also supported.
How do I apply for Product Engineering Manager jobs at Roblox?
Applications go through Roblox's careers site, and most Product Engineering Manager roles require both a technical interview loop and a leadership assessment. Migrate Mate lists verified open roles at Roblox filtered by visa sponsorship type, so you can identify which specific teams are actively hiring and confirm sponsorship availability before you apply.
What qualifications does Roblox expect for Product Engineering Manager candidates?
Roblox typically looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related engineering field, plus direct experience managing engineering teams on large-scale consumer or platform products. Hands-on technical depth matters here. Candidates who have shipped infrastructure, real-time systems, or developer tooling at scale tend to be strongest fits for the role.
How do I plan my timeline if I need visa sponsorship for a Roblox role?
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT expiration date and STEM extension eligibility before accepting an offer, since processing delays can affect your work authorization. For H-1B petitions, the cap filing window opens in April each year for an October 1 start, so a role accepted in spring may carry a several-month gap before you can begin work.
