Tips for Finding Technical Manager Jobs at Roblox
Frame your leadership scope clearly
Roblox Technical Manager roles typically require demonstrated ownership of cross-functional engineering teams. Before applying, document your team size, the systems your teams owned, and measurable delivery outcomes. Visa petitions for managers require evidence of supervisory duties, not just technical contribution.
Target teams with active platform infrastructure work
Roblox consistently hires Technical Managers for platform scaling, developer tooling, and live operations. Positioning your background against these areas increases your relevance before the interview stage and signals alignment with where sponsorship-backed headcount tends to open.
Confirm your visa category with your recruiter early
Roblox sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, and H-1B1 visas depending on your nationality. Ask the recruiter which category applies to you before offer negotiations begin. Processing timelines differ significantly, and knowing your category early helps you plan your start date realistically.
Prepare for the Labor Condition Application stage
Your employer files a Labor Condition Application with DOL before your visa petition can proceed. For Technical Manager roles, the LCA must reflect the actual work location and prevailing wage for the position. Remote or hybrid arrangements can complicate this if you are working across multiple states.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open Technical Manager roles
Roblox posts Technical Manager positions across multiple teams with varying sponsorship eligibility. Use Migrate Mate to filter roles by visa type and confirm which openings are actively sponsoring before you invest time in tailoring your application and preparing for interviews.
Align your start date around H-1B cap timing
If you need a new H-1B and are not currently in cap-exempt status, USCIS only allows employment to begin on October 1 following the April lottery. Factor this into offer discussions so your prospective start date does not create complications for Roblox's hiring timeline.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Roblox sponsor H-1B visas for Technical Managers?
Yes, Roblox sponsors H-1B visas for Technical Manager roles. The company has a consistent track record of filing sponsorship petitions for technical leadership positions. If you are subject to the H-1B cap, your petition enters the annual lottery held in April, with employment beginning no earlier than October 1 of that fiscal year. Roblox also sponsors H-1B transfers for candidates already holding H-1B status with another employer.
How do I apply for Technical Manager jobs at Roblox?
Applications go through Roblox's careers portal, where Technical Manager roles are listed by team and function. You can also browse visa-sponsored openings specifically on Migrate Mate, which filters Roblox roles by sponsorship type. The interview process typically includes a recruiter screen, technical leadership discussions, and cross-functional panel interviews assessing both engineering depth and people management experience.
Which visa types does Roblox commonly use for Technical Manager roles?
Roblox sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, E-3 visa, TN visa, and F-1 OPT for Technical Manager positions, as well as immigrant visa pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-term sponsorship. The right category depends on your nationality and current status. Australian citizens are eligible for the E-3 visa, Canadians and Mexicans for TN visa, and Singapore and Chile nationals for H-1B1 visa, each with distinct application processes and renewal structures.
What qualifications does Roblox expect for a Technical Manager role?
Roblox typically looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field, combined with experience managing engineering teams in a production environment. For visa sponsorship purposes, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, meaning a specific degree requirement must be tied directly to the position. Candidates with experience in platform infrastructure, real-time systems, or developer tooling are commonly sought for this role.
How do I think about timeline if I need visa sponsorship at Roblox?
Timeline depends on your visa category. E-3 and TN visas can be processed relatively quickly, with consular appointments sometimes available within weeks. H-1B petitions tied to the annual cap require planning around the April lottery and an October 1 start. Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 involves PERM labor certification with DOL, which can take one to two years before a petition is even filed. Align your offer discussions with your expected timeline as early as possible.
