ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Observability team builds the infrastructure that empowers engineers to understand, operate, and improve the Roblox platform and ecosystem. This is a highly impactful leadership role at the center of Roblox infrastructure. Your work will directly improve developer productivity, platform reliability, and operational excellence across the company. You will partner closely with infrastructure, product engineering, and AI platform teams to shape the future of developer tooling and autonomous operations at scale.

- Strong experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems and data infrastructure.
- Experience with observability platforms or AI/ML-powered infrastructure is a plus.
- Strong technical judgment and execution skills, with the ability to balance long-term platform investments with near-term business priorities.
- Passion for developer experience, platform engineering, and applying AI to improve engineering productivity and operational excellence.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills across engineering, product, and infrastructure teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Partner with stakeholders across the company to define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the next generation of observability infrastructure at Roblox.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers building AI-powered observability platforms and intelligent developer infrastructure.
- Foster a strong engineering culture centered on ownership, execution, innovation, collaboration, and customer impact.
- Drive initiatives that improve developer productivity, operational excellence, and platform reliability at scale.
- Help shape the future of AI-driven developer tooling, CI/CD, testing, and DevOps experiences across Roblox.

Tips for Finding Engineering Jobs at Roblox
Align your portfolio with Roblox's scale challenges
Roblox hiring managers prioritize engineers who've worked on distributed systems, real-time infrastructure, or platform tooling at scale. Frame your experience around throughput, latency, or reliability problems rather than feature delivery alone.
Clarify your visa category before interviewing
Roblox sponsors multiple visa types, and your eligibility affects timing. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your STEM extension window. If you're E-3 or TN eligible, flag it early so the recruiter routes your offer correctly from the start.
Target teams with active open roles in your discipline
Roblox's engineering org spans infrastructure, client, data, and security. Applying to a specific team with demonstrated backlog of open roles signals you've done your research and gives your application more context than a general engineering submission.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Roblox engineering openings by visa type
Not every Roblox job listing specifies sponsorship eligibility. Migrate Mate surfaces engineering roles at Roblox filtered by the visa types they support, so you can focus your applications on positions that match your current status.
Front-load credential documentation for specialty occupation proof
H-1B petitions for software engineering roles require USCIS to confirm the position qualifies as a specialty occupation. Have your degree equivalency documents, transcripts, and any credential evaluations ready before your employer begins the I-129 filing process.
Understand where PERM fits your long-term plan
If Roblox extends an EB-2 or EB-3 offer, your employer initiates PERM labor certification through DOL before filing the immigrant petition. That process has its own audit risk and timeline, so ask your employer's immigration counsel about the projected sequence.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Roblox sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Roblox sponsors H-1B visas for engineering roles. The company participates in the annual H-1B cap lottery for new applicants and also files H-1B transfers for candidates already holding H-1B status with another employer. If you're currently on a different visa type, Roblox's immigration team will assess your eligibility during the offer stage.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Roblox?
Applications go through Roblox's careers page, where engineering roles are listed by team and discipline. You can also find and filter Roblox engineering positions by visa type on Migrate Mate, which makes it easier to identify roles that align with your current immigration status before investing time in the application process.
Which visa types does Roblox commonly sponsor for Engineering roles?
Roblox sponsors a range of visa types for engineering hires, including H-1B, H-1B1 visa for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, E-3 visa for Australian citizens, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT including the STEM extension. For engineers on a longer-term path, Roblox also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship.
What qualifications does Roblox expect for sponsored Engineering positions?
Most engineering roles at Roblox require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field, which also supports the specialty occupation standard required for H-1B and E-3 petitions. Beyond credentials, Roblox looks for depth in systems design, proficiency in relevant languages like C++ or Lua, and experience working on products at significant scale.
What should I expect from the visa sponsorship timeline at Roblox?
Timeline depends on your visa category. H-1B filings are tied to the April lottery and October 1 start date, so offers made mid-year may require a wait. E-3 and TN processing can move faster since they don't require lottery selection. For Green Card pathways, PERM labor certification through DOL typically takes several months before the immigrant petition can be filed with USCIS.
