Tips for Finding Machine Learning Engineer Jobs at Roblox
Align your portfolio to Roblox's ML stack
Roblox publishes engineering blog posts detailing their work in content moderation, avatar recommendations, and real-time personalization. Tailor your GitHub projects or research to reflect these systems before your first interview round.
Request H-1B1 or E-3 status at offer
If you hold an Australian or Chilean passport, the H-1B1 visa and E-3 categories sit outside the annual H-1B lottery cap. Confirm your eligibility with your recruiter early so Roblox's immigration team files the correct petition from the start.
Verify your OPT STEM extension window before signing
STEM OPT extends your F-1 authorization by 24 months, but USCIS requires the extension application before your initial OPT expires. Confirm your OPT end date and submit early enough to avoid any gap before your Roblox start date.
Prepare a specialty occupation evidence file
Machine Learning Engineer roles at Roblox require a degree in computer science, statistics, or a closely related field. Gather transcripts, course syllabi, and any research publications now so your employer's counsel can build a strong specialty occupation argument for the I-129.
Browse open roles using Migrate Mate
Roblox posts Machine Learning Engineer openings across applied research, safety, and platform teams at different seniority levels. Use Migrate Mate to filter current Roblox listings by visa type so you target roles that match your sponsorship situation.
Clarify Green Card sponsorship timing during offer negotiation
PERM labor certification can take over a year before an I-140 petition is even filed. Ask Roblox's recruiter directly whether the team initiates PERM for this role level, and get that commitment in writing before you accept.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Roblox sponsor H-1B visas for Machine Learning Engineers?
Yes, Roblox sponsors H-1B visas for Machine Learning Engineer roles. The company works with experienced immigration counsel and supports candidates through the full H-1B process, including lottery registration, I-129 petition filing, and subsequent renewals. Roblox also sponsors other nonimmigrant categories depending on your nationality and situation.
Which visa types does Roblox commonly sponsor for Machine Learning Engineer roles?
Roblox sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa for Chilean nationals, E-3 visa for Australian nationals, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT including the STEM OPT extension. For longer-term pathways, Roblox also supports EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa petitions, which lead to a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Roblox expect for Machine Learning Engineer positions?
Roblox typically looks for a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, machine learning, statistics, or a related quantitative field. Hands-on experience with large-scale recommendation systems, content ranking, or safety classifiers is valued. Roles on the research side often expect published work or demonstrated applied research output alongside strong engineering fundamentals.
How do I apply for Machine Learning Engineer jobs at Roblox?
You can find and apply for Machine Learning Engineer openings at Roblox through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm a role fits your immigration status before applying. Roblox's interview process typically includes a recruiter screen, technical assessments covering ML fundamentals and system design, and a final loop with the hiring team.
How do I plan my timeline if Roblox sponsors my H-1B while I'm on OPT?
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed once per year, with USCIS opening registration in March for an October 1 start date. If you're on OPT and your authorization expires before October 1, you'll need your STEM OPT extension approved to bridge the gap. Confirm your OPT expiration date and lottery registration status with Roblox's immigration team before accepting an offer.
