Align your credentials to financial ML standards
JPMorganChase prioritizes candidates with graduate-level work in ML, statistics, or quantitative finance. Ensure your resume explicitly connects your academic background and published or production model experience to financial applications like risk modeling, fraud detection, or algorithmic trading.
Target the right internal divisions first
Roles under Corporate and Investment Banking technology or the AI Research team tend to have longer sponsorship runway than contract-heavy roles. Filter your applications toward these divisions, where full-time headcount and longer project cycles make multi-year visa support more predictable.
Find open sponsored roles through Migrate Mate
Browse JPMorganChase's current Machine Learning Engineer openings filtered by visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate. This saves you from applying to roles where sponsorship isn't available and helps you prioritize positions already open to H-1B or E-3 candidates.
Understand the LCA filing before your offer stage
Before JPMorganChase can file your H-1B petition with USCIS, they must get a Labor Condition Application certified by DOL. This step confirms your role meets prevailing wage requirements. Knowing this timeline helps you negotiate a realistic start date during the offer process.
Clarify cap-exempt status if you're transferring internally
If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, a transfer to JPMorganChase doesn't require a new lottery entry. You can begin working as soon as USCIS receives the H-1B transfer petition, so negotiate your transition timeline around the portability rule, not the lottery cycle.
Prepare for technical screens that test production ML depth
JPMorganChase's engineering interviews for ML roles emphasize deployed systems, not just model theory. Be ready to walk through end-to-end pipelines, latency tradeoffs, and model monitoring in production environments. Candidates who can bridge research fluency with engineering rigor move further in the process.

Find Machine Learning Engineer at JPMorganChase JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does JPMorganChase sponsor H-1B visas for Machine Learning Engineers?
Yes, JPMorganChase sponsors H-1B visas for Machine Learning Engineers. The firm has a well-established immigration program and regularly files H-1B petitions for technology and quantitative roles. Sponsorship is most common for full-time positions within its technology and AI divisions. Contract or contingent roles are less likely to come with sponsorship.
Which visa types does JPMorganChase commonly use for Machine Learning Engineer roles?
JPMorganChase sponsors several visa categories for Machine Learning Engineers, including the H-1B, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, and the E-3 for Australian citizens. For candidates pursuing permanent residence, the firm also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, typically through the PERM labor certification process filed with DOL.
How do I apply for Machine Learning Engineer jobs at JPMorganChase?
Applications go through JPMorganChase's careers portal, where you can filter by job function and location. For roles that explicitly require or support visa sponsorship, Migrate Mate surfaces these openings in one place so you can identify them without manually checking each listing. Tailor your resume to emphasize production ML experience relevant to financial services before applying.
What qualifications does JPMorganChase expect for Machine Learning Engineer candidates?
Most Machine Learning Engineer roles at JPMorganChase expect a master's or PhD in computer science, statistics, or a related quantitative field, combined with hands-on experience building and deploying ML systems at scale. Proficiency in Python, familiarity with MLOps practices, and experience with large structured datasets are consistently required across their job postings.
How do I understand the visa filing timeline when joining JPMorganChase on an H-1B?
H-1B cap-subject petitions are filed in April for an October 1 start date, so offers made outside that window typically require waiting for the next cycle unless you're transferring an existing H-1B. JPMorganChase's HR team coordinates filing through internal legal counsel, and USCIS standard processing runs three to five months. Premium processing reduces this to roughly two weeks.
