Tips for Finding Product Engineer Jobs at Roblox
Align your portfolio to Roblox's platform scale
Roblox evaluates Product Engineers on systems-level thinking. Before applying, make sure your portfolio demonstrates experience building or scaling consumer-facing platforms, not just feature work. Projects showing distributed systems design or real-time infrastructure are especially relevant.
Clarify your visa type early in recruiting
Roblox sponsors several visa categories, and each has different filing timelines and employer obligations. Tell your recruiter your current status and work authorization expiry upfront so they can route your offer through the right process without delays.
Prepare your credentials for specialty occupation review
USCIS requires that H-1B petitions demonstrate a direct connection between your degree field and the Product Engineer role. Gather transcripts, credential evaluations for foreign degrees, and any supplemental coursework documentation before your offer letter arrives.
Time your OPT extension around Roblox's hiring cycles
Roblox runs primary engineering hiring pushes in the fall and early spring. If you're on F-1 OPT with limited time remaining, target those windows and file your STEM OPT extension with your Designated School Official as early as 90 days before your OPT expires.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Roblox openings by visa type
Not every Product Engineer listing at Roblox surfaces the same sponsorship eligibility. Use Migrate Mate to browse current openings filtered by the specific visa categories Roblox supports, so you're applying to roles where your status is already a match.
Understand how PERM affects your long-term path
If Roblox pursues an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card for you, the PERM labor certification process requires DOL to certify no qualified U.S. workers were available. That process can take a year or more before an I-140 petition is even filed, so factor that into your timeline.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Roblox sponsor H-1B visas for Product Engineers?
Yes, Roblox sponsors H-1B visas for Product Engineers and has done so consistently across its engineering org. Because the H-1B is subject to an annual lottery with a cap of 85,000 slots, timing matters. Roblox typically coordinates with immigration counsel to file cap-subject petitions by the April 1 USCIS deadline, so your offer and petition prep need to be in place well before then.
How do I apply for Product Engineer jobs at Roblox?
Applications go through Roblox's careers page, where Product Engineer roles are listed under the Engineering function. You can also find and filter current Roblox openings by visa type on Migrate Mate, which helps confirm sponsorship eligibility before you invest time in the application. Roblox's interview process typically involves a technical screen, coding rounds, and a system design interview.
Which visa types does Roblox commonly sponsor for Product Engineers?
Roblox sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, E-3 visa, TN visa, and F-1 OPT for Product Engineers at the nonimmigrant level, plus EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories for employees on a Green Card path. H-1B1 visa is available to Chilean and Singaporean nationals, while E-3 visa applies exclusively to Australian citizens. TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories.
What qualifications does Roblox expect for Product Engineer roles?
Roblox Product Engineer roles generally require a bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field. Practical experience with large-scale distributed systems, real-time platforms, or game engine architecture carries significant weight. For H-1B purposes, your degree field needs to directly correspond to the role's duties, so a generalist background without relevant coursework can complicate the specialty occupation determination.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take once I have a Roblox offer?
Timeline depends on your visa type. H-1B cap-subject cases follow a fixed annual cycle: lottery registration opens in March, and work authorization can begin October 1 if selected. E-3 and TN visas can be processed at a consulate in two to four weeks. USCIS premium processing for H-1B is available for a fee and reduces adjudication to 15 business days, which Roblox's legal team can request if your start date is time-sensitive.
