INTRODUCTION
Discord has a highly engaged community of millions of daily active users who use the platform for many different reasons, but there’s one thing that nearly everyone does: play video games. Discord plays a uniquely important role in the future of gaming, and we are focused on making it easier and more fun for people to hang out before, during, and after playing games.
As a Senior Product Designer on Consumer Revenue, you'll help shape how millions of people discover, experience, and engage with Discord's paid products and offerings. You'll work on experiences that create meaningful value for our users while helping grow Discord's consumer business - from exploring new ways to monetize to improving and evolving existing revenue products. You'll be involved in the full product development process from end to end, from identifying opportunities and shaping product strategy to prototyping, experimentation, and launch. You'll bring a strong balance of product thinking, interaction design, and visual craft, and partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Research, and Marketing to understand user needs, test hypotheses, and turn insights into impactful experiences. We're looking for a designer who is excited by the intersection of consumer behavior, product experience, and business growth - someone who can simplify complex problems, explore new ideas, and design experiences that feel distinctly Discord while driving measurable impact. If you're excited to help define the future of Discord's consumer business and build products used by millions of people around the world, we'd love to hear from you.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
What You'll Be Doing
- Embed within a Consumer Revenue squad and partner with engineering, product, data science, and research to own the experience of our paid products from concept to experiment to launch - and keep improving them after release.
- Connect consumer and business goals through design decisions you can clearly articulate, from squad discussions to leadership reviews.
- Effectively communicate the business and user-centered rationale behind design choices in forums such as design reviews, project-team meetings, and leadership discussions.
- Use experimentation, funnel data, and research insights to refine your designs and inform ship/no-ship decisions.
- Deliver high-quality work across desktop and mobile, with comprehensive documentation and interactive prototypes, while contributing back to our Design System.
- Help foster a culture of design excellence through critique, knowledge sharing, and mentorship.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
What you should have
- 5+ years designing and shipping consumer products across desktop and mobile, including experience as the design lead for multiple squads or end-to-end initiatives.
- Strong product thinking - you care more about the "why" than the "how," and can turn complex business requirements into simple, intuitive experiences.
- Comfort digging into experiment data and user feedback to shape iterations and make ship decisions.
- Mastery of visual and interaction design, with an eye for the details that build delight and trust - especially critical in revenue experiences.
- Expert-level Figma and prototyping skills; experience working within and contributing to a design system.
- A working understanding and curiosity of AI-assisted design workflows - from ideation and prototyping to generative UI - and the design judgment to know when AI output needs a human hand before it ships.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bonus Points
- Experience building monetization products

Tips for Finding Product Engineer Jobs at Discord
Frame your portfolio around Discord's product surface
Discord's Product Engineers work across voice, messaging, and community tooling. Before applying, tailor your portfolio projects to show experience with real-time systems, API design, or consumer-facing product features that map directly to Discord's core infrastructure.
Identify open roles tied to active H-1B filings
Use DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data to confirm which Discord engineering teams have filed LCAs recently. LCA filings signal active sponsorship intent for a specific role and location, not just a general company-level willingness to sponsor.
Get your OPT timing right before interviews
If you're on F-1 OPT, Discord can hire you without filing anything immediately, but your remaining OPT window affects how quickly they'll need to move on an H-1B petition. Recruiters will ask, so know your exact I-94 end date and STEM OPT eligibility status going in.
Surface your visa status early in recruiter screens
Discord's recruiting process for Product Engineers typically includes a technical screen before reaching hiring managers. Mentioning your visa type on the first recruiter call, not after an offer, avoids late-stage complications and lets the team loop in HR before the offer stage.
Prepare for USCIS specialty occupation scrutiny
USCIS increasingly scrutinizes H-1B petitions for product-focused engineering roles that blend design and technical work. Ask your employer to ensure the job description emphasizes the specific engineering degree requirements and technical scope of your responsibilities, not just product outcomes.
Use Migrate Mate to filter roles by sponsorship type
Searching Discord's open Product Engineer roles by visa category saves time you'd otherwise spend screening unsuitable listings. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically by sponsorship type so you only see Discord roles where your visa pathway is already confirmed as supported.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Discord sponsor H-1B visas for Product Engineers?
Yes, Discord sponsors H-1B visas for Product Engineer roles. The company files Labor Condition Applications with the DOL and submits I-129 petitions through USCIS for qualifying positions. Because H-1B cap-subject petitions are lottery-based, Discord typically initiates the process well before the April filing window. If you're already on an H-1B with a different employer, a transfer is faster and bypasses the lottery entirely.
How do I apply for Product Engineer jobs at Discord?
Applications go through Discord's careers page, where Product Engineer openings are listed by team and function. You can also browse and filter Discord's roles by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which surfaces only the positions where your specific visa pathway is supported. Tailor your resume to highlight systems-level engineering experience and any consumer product work before submitting.
Which visa types does Discord support for Product Engineer roles?
Discord sponsors H-1B visas for Product Engineers and supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students completing degrees, TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles, and employment-based Green Cards through EB-2 and EB-3 categories for longer-term hires. The right pathway depends on your nationality, degree field, and how long you've been in the U.S.
What qualifications does Discord expect for Product Engineer roles?
Discord's Product Engineer roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related technical field. Hands-on experience with distributed systems, real-time communication protocols, or consumer application development at scale is prioritized. Roles often expect proficiency in languages like Python, Go, or Rust, and familiarity with high-throughput backend architecture given Discord's infrastructure demands.
How do I think about the timeline from offer to work authorization at Discord?
Timeline depends on your current status. F-1 OPT holders can start immediately if OPT is valid, with STEM OPT extension adding up to 24 months of additional runway. H-1B transfers from another employer can begin with a receipt notice, often within two to four weeks of filing. New H-1B cap petitions must be submitted in April with an October 1 start date. Building buffer into your target start date avoids gaps in work authorization.
