Our platform puts information in motion, streaming in near real-time so companies can react faster, build smarter, and deliver experiences as dynamic as the world around them.
It takes a certain kind of person to join this team. Those who ask hard questions, give honest feedback, and show up for each other. No egos, no solo acts. Just smart, curious humans pushing toward something bigger, together.
One Confluent. One Team. One Data Streaming Platform.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
As a Senior Software Engineer II at Confluent, you will take ownership of critical backend systems in Stream Governance products that underpin our data streaming platform. You’ll lead the design and delivery of large-scale, distributed services that must be secure, highly available, and easy to operate across regions and clouds.
The Stream Governance product portfolio is crucial to achieving Confluent’s mission to put event streaming at the heart of every organization. Align your portfolio with streaming systems experience
Confluent's Product Engineers work directly on Kafka-based infrastructure and cloud-native data platforms. Before applying, document projects involving distributed systems, event-driven architecture, or real-time data pipelines, these signal direct relevance to how Confluent's engineering teams operate.
Verify your OPT timeline before accepting an offer
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your remaining authorization window against Confluent's typical onboarding lead time. A gap between OPT expiration and H-1B cap-subject start date on October 1 can interrupt employment, so plan filings with that 60-day grace period in mind.
Target Confluent's product-aligned engineering teams directly
Confluent structures Product Engineer roles around specific product areas like Flink, Tableflow, or cloud clusters. Identifying which team owns the product you have depth in, and tailoring your application to that domain, improves your chances of reaching the right hiring manager.
Understand how PERM shapes your long-term sponsorship path
For EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship, Confluent must run a DOL-supervised PERM labor certification before filing your immigrant petition. That process typically takes one to two years on its own, so clarifying green card intent early in offer negotiations avoids surprises later.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Product Engineer roles at Confluent
Confluent's visa-sponsored Product Engineer openings aren't always easy to filter on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to browse current listings filtered by sponsorship type and role, so you're targeting positions where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than guessing from a job description.
Clarify TN eligibility if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship
Confluent sponsors TN status for qualifying roles, and Product Engineer positions can qualify under the Computer Systems Analyst or Engineer categories depending on your specific job duties. Confirm the role description maps to a TN-eligible occupation before your offer letter is finalized.

Find Product Engineer at Confluent JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Confluent sponsor H-1B visas for Product Engineers?
Yes, Confluent sponsors H-1B visas for Product Engineer roles. The company has an established process for filing cap-subject H-1B petitions through the annual USCIS lottery, as well as cap-exempt filings in certain circumstances. If you're already in H-1B status with another employer, a transfer to Confluent can begin as soon as your petition is filed with USCIS.
How do I apply for Product Engineer jobs at Confluent?
Applications go through Confluent's careers portal, where Product Engineer roles are listed by product area or team. You can also find Confluent's sponsored openings filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate, which makes it easier to confirm sponsorship availability before investing time in an application. Tailoring your resume to the specific product domain the team owns strengthens your submission.
Which visa types does Confluent commonly use for Product Engineer roles?
Confluent supports H-1B, F-1 OPT, TN, and employment-based Green Card categories including EB-2 and EB-3 for Product Engineers. H-1B is the most common path for long-term sponsorship. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican citizens whose role duties align with a qualifying USMCA occupation category. Green Card sponsorship through PERM typically follows after a period of H-1B employment.
What qualifications does Confluent expect for Product Engineer roles?
Confluent's Product Engineer roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field, which also satisfies the H-1B specialty occupation requirement. In practice, the company looks for depth in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or real-time data technologies. Experience with Apache Kafka, stream processing, or cloud-native platforms is consistently relevant across their Product Engineer openings.
How do I time my application if I'm waiting on an H-1B cap decision?
H-1B cap registrations open in March each year, with employment start dates no earlier than October 1. If Confluent selects you during the lottery, the petition filing window follows selection. Coordinating your offer timeline so your start date falls after October 1 avoids status gaps. If you're already in valid status, you can work under H-1B portability rules while your petition is pending with USCIS.
