INTRODUCTION
Every day, tens of millions of people come to Roblox to explore, create, play, learn, and connect with friends in 3D immersive digital experiences– all created by our global community of developers and creators.
At Roblox, we’re building the tools and platform that empower our community to bring any experience that they can imagine to life. Our vision is to reimagine the way people come together, from anywhere in the world, and on any device. We’re on a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility, and looking for amazing talent to help us get there.
A career at Roblox means you’ll be working to shape the future of human interaction, solving unique technical challenges at scale, and helping to create safer, more civil shared experiences for everyone.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Principal Software Engineer leading Fleet Management, you will be the overall technical lead across three pods and the person who sets the technical direction for the fleet management layer of Roblox. This is a hands-on, deeply technical leadership role that owns all of Roblox's compute capacity end to end: from low-level provisioning and the data plane, up through the control planes that operate it, and all the way to the UI and internal-facing products that let teams self-serve capacity. Your org centralizes security, maintenance operations, and the uptime of every Roblox Kubernetes cluster, and governs the internal customer contracts that drive automation across the fleet spanning Roblox data centers and cloud providers. You will guide architecture, raise the engineering bar, and make sure compute capacity supply and demand stay in balance as the fleet grows.
You will:
- Serve as the overall technical lead for three Fleet Management pods, setting and aligning the technical direction across low-level provisioning, the data plane, and the control plane and product surfaces above them.
- Architect the declarative, Kubernetes-style control planes that operate Roblox's compute fleet across on-prem and cloud, and define how capacity is provisioned, reconciled, and exposed at scale.
- Own the design of the internal customer contracts and APIs that govern automation across the fleet, so that every infrastructure team can operate capacity safely and predictably.
- Drive the strategy for self-serve capacity, including the internal-facing products and UIs that let teams request, manage, and reason about the compute they depend on.
- Centralize and raise the bar on security, maintenance operations, and the uptime of all Roblox Kubernetes clusters, defining how fleet-wide changes ship reliably without impacting production.
- Partner broadly with stakeholders inside and outside infrastructure to understand compute needs and drive innovation for our backend services, AI, and edge computing.
- Write code daily, staying deep in the systems your org owns and leading by example on the hardest design and implementation problems.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
You have:
- 10+ years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems and infrastructure.
- A track record as the technical anchor an organization relies on, with the leadership to set direction across multiple teams and up-level the engineers around you.
- Strong proficiency in Go, with deep experience designing and operating production services at fleet scale.
- Hands-on experience building declarative, Kubernetes-style control planes and the reconciliation patterns behind them.
- Strong proficiency with gRPC for service-to-service APIs and with SQL and Postgres for durable, high-scale state.
- Experience operating compute capacity across both on-prem data centers and cloud providers, and a feel for the realities of running fleets at the scale of hundreds of thousands of instances.
- A history of being highly cross-functional, partnering with stakeholders across and beyond infrastructure to design systems that keep compute supply and demand in balance.

Tips for Finding Software Product Manager Jobs at Roblox
Frame your PM portfolio around platform scale
Roblox evaluates PMs on experience shipping products at consumer scale. Before applying, restructure your portfolio to lead with metrics around user growth, engagement, or platform infrastructure. Generic enterprise PM experience reads as a mismatch for their product model.
Confirm your visa category before applying
Roblox sponsors several visa types including H-1B, E-3, TN, and H-1B1 visa. Knowing which category fits your nationality before you apply lets you ask the right questions during recruiter screens instead of scrambling after an offer.
Target teams building creator or developer tooling
Open Software Product Manager roles at Roblox cluster around creator economy, developer platform, and monetization products. Aligning your application to these product areas signals domain fit and increases your chances of clearing the initial recruiter screen.
Prepare your OPT or grace period timeline early
If you're on F-1 OPT, map your authorization end date against Roblox's typical offer-to-start timeline before you apply. A 60-day gap between roles does not pause your OPT clock, so a delayed start can cost you months of valid work authorization.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsorship openings
Search for Software Product Manager roles at Roblox using Migrate Mate, which surfaces jobs from employers with a confirmed sponsorship history. This removes the guesswork of whether a given role is actually open to sponsored candidates.
Negotiate H-1B premium processing into your offer timeline
USCIS premium processing guarantees a 15 business day adjudication window. If your start date is tight, ask the recruiting team during offer negotiation whether Roblox will elect premium processing on your I-129 petition before you accept.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Roblox sponsor H-1B visas for Software Product Managers?
Yes, Roblox sponsors H-1B visas for Software Product Manager roles. The company has an active sponsorship history for this function and works with candidates through the H-1B cap lottery process as well as cap-exempt transfers for candidates already holding H-1B status with another employer. Confirming your status during the recruiter screen is the best first step.
Which visa types does Roblox sponsor for Software Product Manager roles?
Roblox sponsors multiple visa categories for Software Product Managers, including H-1B, H-1B1 visa for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, E-3 visa for Australian citizens, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT for recent graduates, and employment-based Green Cards through EB-2 and EB-3 pathways. Your eligible category depends on your nationality and degree, not on the role itself.
What qualifications does Roblox expect for Software Product Manager roles?
Roblox typically expects Software Product Managers to hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, along with hands-on experience working in consumer or platform product environments. Strong candidates demonstrate comfort with technical tradeoffs, cross-functional collaboration at scale, and a track record of shipping features to large user bases. Domain experience in gaming, creator tools, or social platforms strengthens an application significantly.
How do I apply for Software Product Manager jobs at Roblox?
Browse current Software Product Manager openings at Roblox on Migrate Mate, which filters for roles at employers with a confirmed sponsorship track record. Once you identify a relevant opening, apply directly through Roblox's careers portal. Tailor your application to the specific product area, whether creator economy, developer platform, or trust and safety, since Roblox hiring teams evaluate domain alignment closely during initial screens.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take after a Roblox offer?
Timeline depends on your visa category. For H-1B transfers or cap-exempt filings, USCIS standard processing runs three to five months, while premium processing reduces adjudication to 15 business days. E-3 and TN categories can move faster since they don't require USCIS petition approval before consular processing. Building at least 90 days between offer acceptance and your target start date gives the legal team enough runway to file without rushing.
