Tips for Finding ML Engineer Jobs at Roblox
Tailor your portfolio to Roblox's ML stack
Roblox ML roles frequently focus on ranking systems, content moderation, and real-time inference. Showcasing projects in these areas, with measurable outcomes, signals direct fit before your resume ever reaches a recruiter.
Verify your visa category before applying
Roblox sponsors several nonimmigrant categories, including H-1B, E-3, TN, and H-1B1 visa. Knowing which category fits your nationality and degree before your first interview lets you answer sponsorship questions confidently and avoids surprises during offer negotiation.
Time your application around H-1B cap deadlines
If you need H-1B sponsorship, USCIS opens registration in March for an October 1 start date. A Roblox offer finalized after April may push your start to the following fiscal year, so factor that gap into your job search timeline.
Use OPT strategically to get your foot in the door
F-1 graduates can start on OPT while a full H-1B petition is prepared. Roblox sponsors both, so joining on OPT with a clear transition plan already discussed removes a common barrier that stalls offers at the hiring manager level.
Prepare for technical rounds that reflect production ML systems
Roblox interviews for ML Engineer roles emphasize system design for large-scale models and latency-sensitive pipelines, not just algorithm theory. Practicing distributed training architectures and model serving patterns puts you in a stronger position than standard LeetCode prep alone.
Find and track Roblox ML openings through Migrate Mate
Sponsorship-confirmed ML Engineer roles at Roblox can be hard to surface through general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Roblox positions across the visa categories you qualify for, so you're applying to roles with confirmed sponsorship history.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Roblox sponsor H-1B visas for ML Engineers?
Yes, Roblox sponsors H-1B visas for ML Engineer roles. The company has a consistent pattern of filing H-1B petitions for technical positions across its engineering organization. If you're on F-1 OPT, Roblox also supports the transition to H-1B visa status, though you'll need to account for the annual USCIS lottery and the October 1 cap-subject start date.
How do I apply for ML Engineer jobs at Roblox?
Applications go through Roblox's careers portal, where ML Engineer roles are listed under the Engineering or Data Science categories. For a filtered view that confirms visa sponsorship eligibility, Migrate Mate lets you browse open Roblox ML positions by the visa categories you qualify for. The process typically involves a recruiter screen, technical assessments, and a final loop before an offer stage.
Which visa types does Roblox commonly use for ML Engineers?
Roblox sponsors a range of visa types for ML Engineer roles, including H-1B, H-1B1 visa (for Chilean and Singaporean nationals), E-3 visa (for Australian nationals), TN visa (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), F-1 OPT, and employment-based Green Cards through the EB-2 and EB-3 categories. The right category depends on your nationality, degree, and how quickly you need authorization to start.
What qualifications does Roblox expect for ML Engineer roles?
Most ML Engineer postings at Roblox require a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, machine learning, or a related field, along with hands-on experience building and deploying models at scale. Roles focused on recommendations, safety, or infrastructure tend to weight systems design and production ML experience heavily alongside research depth. A PhD can be an advantage for more research-oriented positions.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take at Roblox?
Timeline depends on your visa category. H-1B cap-subject cases filed in April won't authorize employment until October 1 at the earliest, a six-month gap that can affect your start date negotiation. E-3 and TN cases move faster, often resolving within a few weeks through consular processing. USCIS premium processing is available for H-1B petitions and reduces adjudication to 15 business days once the petition is filed.
