At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.
The Role
In this role, you will own a critical set of capabilities and products that are a part of Netflix’s content journey from pitch to post. Collaborating closely with research, engineering, studio, creatives, and other key partners across the entertainment industry, you will build a deep understanding of evolving production needs and opportunities. You will drive our research and product strategy forward, defining the AI/ML technologies creators can choose from to realize their vision with unparalleled quality and control. Ultimately, you will transform novel model capabilities into intuitive workflows and partner with other PMs to craft products that amplify artist creativity and efficiency across our slate.
This role requires a unique combination of strong product management expertise, technical understanding of AI/ML/CV, experience in creative production processes, and exceptional stakeholder management skills. You will address the complex needs of creatives (e.g., directors, editors, colorists, VFX artists), and production teams, pushing the envelope of creative outcomes and defining the future of filmmaking through transformative technologies. Success in this position relies on building consensus and driving execution across diverse groups, including creative teams, R&D, external partners, and executive leadership.
This is an onsite role based in Los Angeles. Regular monthly travel to Los Gatos is expected to support in-person collaboration.
What You Will Do
- Own the vision, strategy, and execution of product-led research and the deployment of AI/ML powered video capabilities within the content production and studio domain.
- Lead deep discovery to uncover the bottlenecks of creatives and production teams that can be solved with novel AI/ML solutions. Balance immediate partner requests with long-term investments, prioritizing durable impact and synthesizing signals into strategic roadmaps.
- Act as the voice of creative stakeholders within the R&D organization. Translate user needs into precise technical requirements and product specifications, ensuring novel AI capabilities become impactful, scalable cinematic tools.
- Collaborate with research and engineering teams to influence the development of AI models, from the initial training data strategy through training and production deployment.
- Partner with ML infrastructure teams to forecast, allocate, and manage compute budgets. Make critical prioritization decisions on training and inference runs.
- Create clarity and champion alignment in a highly cross-functional environment, ensuring our AI strategy remains grounded within a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
- Communicate at the right altitude, seamlessly transitioning from detailed technical product reviews to executive narratives and creative demos.
- Partner with Studio Ops, Production Technology, and Content leaders to align requirements, milestones, and slate needs, effectively influencing cross-team roadmaps.
What We’re Looking For
- 6+ years of Product Management experience, including a track record of working closely with R&D teams to turn novel research into scaled products.
- Deep empathy and/or demonstrated experience working directly with creatives (e.g., digital artists, technical directors, editors) in the production process.
- Strong technical fluency; comfortable discussing the details of AI models, architecture, data requirements, training, finetuning, inference, and performance considerations. This work emphasizes improving adherence, controllability, quality of image and video models.
- Previous experience with creative tool ecosystems and a strong understanding of how professionals leverage these tools.
- Proven ability to define product strategy and lead multi-quarter initiatives in highly technical, cross-functional environments.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with a track record of aligning diverse teams around shared infrastructure and goals.
- A self-directed leader who thrives in ambiguity and is motivated by building durable, foundational systems that empower others to move faster.

Frame your PM portfolio around platform scale
Netflix evaluates Product Managers on decisions made at scale. Before applying, rebuild your portfolio narratives around systems thinking, data-driven tradeoffs, and cross-functional alignment, not feature launches alone. Streaming infrastructure and personalization experience resonates with their hiring bar.
Target roles that align with your degree field
H-1B specialty occupation requirements mean your degree must relate to the Product Manager role's scope. Degrees in computer science, information systems, or engineering typically satisfy USCIS standards for technical PM positions at software companies like Netflix.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Netflix roles
Filtering for visa-sponsoring employers manually is time-consuming. Use Migrate Mate to browse open Software Product Manager positions at Netflix alongside their sponsorship history, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed.
Start OPT roles with cap-gap timing in mind
If you're on F-1 OPT and starting at Netflix before the H-1B lottery, confirm your OPT end date against the October 1 H-1B activation date. Cap-gap protection extends your status if your petition is filed on time, but the window is fixed and non-negotiable.
Get your LCA certified before your start date
Your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before USCIS can process your H-1B petition. Netflix's legal team handles this, but you should confirm LCA certification is complete before negotiating a firm start date to avoid offer reschedule complications.

Yes, Netflix sponsors H-1B visas for Software Product Manager roles. The role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field such as computer science, engineering, or information systems. Netflix's legal team manages the petition process, including the required Labor Condition Application filed with the DOL.
How do I apply for Software Product Manager jobs at Netflix?
Applications go through Netflix's careers site, where you can filter by role and location. Netflix's hiring process for Product Managers typically involves a recruiter screen, a product strategy interview, and a series of cross-functional panels assessing systems thinking and data fluency. You can also browse open Software Product Manager positions at Netflix with confirmed sponsorship history through Migrate Mate before applying directly.
Which visa types does Netflix commonly sponsor for Software Product Managers?
Netflix sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for this role. E-3 is available to Australian citizens only, and TN applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals. If you're currently on OPT or CPT, Netflix can typically support your status while an H-1B petition is in progress.
What qualifications does Netflix expect for Software Product Manager roles?
Netflix typically looks for Product Managers with experience driving product decisions in high-scale software environments, strong data analysis capability, and a track record of aligning engineering and design teams around measurable outcomes. For visa eligibility purposes, a bachelor's degree or higher in a technical or business field directly related to the role is also required to satisfy USCIS specialty occupation standards.
How do I time my application if my work authorization is expiring soon?
If you're on OPT with less than six months remaining, prioritize companies with established H-1B sponsorship infrastructure like Netflix, and aim to have an offer in hand before the H-1B registration window in March. USCIS typically opens H-1B registration in early March for an October 1 start. If selected in the lottery, your employer has until late June to file the full petition.
