INTRODUCTION
At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.
Hawkins is Netflix's design system and the foundation of the consumer experience across every surface: TV, mobile, and web. It is the shared language between design and engineering that ensures what designers create is delivered consistently across every engineering platform. It's also the foundation for future automation and agentic design-to-code workflows.
We are looking for a Technical Program Manager to drive large, cross-team programs across Hawkins engineering and cross-platform UI foundations. This high impact role will be a force multiplier across the XD Platform team, client and server engineers, and design owning planning, execution, and cross-functional alignment for high-impact initiatives that shape how Netflix builds consumer-facing UI at scale.
What You’ll Do
- Drive large, cross-team programs across Hawkins ecosystem end-to-end: define scope, milestones, and sequencing; keep us honest on commitments; and adjust quickly as we learn.
- Navigate technical and organizational complexity across design, client, and server engineering, ensuring the right people are in the room and decisions are pragmatic, not perfect.
- Coordinate platform adoption across multiple client surfaces (TV, mobile, web).
- Bring clarity to ambiguity: create lightweight structure, clear communication, and simple mechanisms without over-engineering process or slowing teams down.
- Build alignment and strong relationships with partners across Design Platform, Engineering, Experience Design, and Product Management.
- Establish and manage the intake process from XFN partners.
- Surface and manage dependencies and risks so issues are addressed early and delivery stays on track.
What Sets You Apart
- 6-8+ years of technical program leadership, driving multi-team programs in large, complex engineering organizations, including significant experience on platform, framework, or client/UI engineering programs.
- Able to engage on technical trade-offs without writing code, and communicate naturally across audiences from ICs to senior leadership in Engineering, Design and Product.
- Experience with client/UI engineering, design systems, or platform/framework development, and a strong feel for developer and designer experience.
- Equally comfortable getting into technical details and setting direction within your area; clear-eyed about what the moment calls for, and skilled at driving accountability through clarity and relationships rather than process or reporting structure.
- Takes full ownership of outcomes and relentlessly drives execution, even when faced with ambiguity or cross-functional friction.
- Experience leveraging GenAI tools to scale your impact, and a genuine curiosity about how these tools are reshaping the way technical programs run.
- Familiarity with cross-platform delivery (TV, mobile, web) and design-to-code workflows is a plus.
COMPENSATION
- The range for this role is $290,000.00 - $460,000.00. This compensation range will vary based on location.
Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range.
Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off. Frame Your TPM Experience Around Scale
Netflix TPM roles emphasize program ownership at massive scale, not coordination support. Tailor your resume to show you've driven multi-team technical roadmaps end-to-end. Specialty occupation petitions are stronger when your documented experience matches the role's degree-level complexity.
Target Netflix's Infrastructure and Streaming Orgs First
Netflix's highest TPM demand sits in platform infrastructure, content delivery, and streaming reliability. Applying to these org-specific openings, rather than general TPM postings, puts you in front of hiring managers who have active headcount and established sponsorship pipelines.
Clarify Sponsorship Eligibility Before Offer Stage
Netflix sponsors multiple visa types for TPM roles, including H-1B, E-3, and TN. Raise your visa status early in the recruiter screen, not after the panel interview, so the team confirms sponsorship scope before you invest weeks in the process.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Verified Netflix TPM Openings
Searching broadly for Netflix TPM jobs surfaces stale listings. Migrate Mate filters specifically for roles with confirmed visa sponsorship at Netflix, saving you from applications where sponsorship was never on the table for international candidates.
Align Your Degree Field to the Specific Role's Technical Domain
For H-1B specialty occupation approval, USCIS requires your degree field to correspond directly to the job duties. A TPM role in Netflix's encoding or ML infrastructure will need a stronger field match than a generalist program management degree provides.
Track the H-1B Registration Window and Plan Your Timeline
USCIS opens H-1B registration each March for an October 1 start date. If your OPT or current status expires before October, ask Netflix's immigration team whether cap-exempt filing or a bridge visa like E-3 or TN could cover the gap.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Netflix sponsor H-1B visas for Technical Program Managers?
Yes, Netflix sponsors H-1B visas for Technical Program Manager roles. TPM positions at Netflix are generally structured as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field, which supports the H-1B petition. Netflix's in-house immigration team manages the filing process, and sponsorship is typically confirmed during the offer stage rather than after signing.
Which visa types does Netflix commonly use for Technical Program Manager roles?
Netflix sponsors several visa categories for TPM positions, including H-1B, E-3 visa for Australian citizens, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students finishing degrees. For candidates pursuing permanent residence, Netflix supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways. The right pathway depends on your nationality, current status, and the role's timeline.
How do I apply for Technical Program Manager jobs at Netflix?
Applications go through Netflix's careers site, where TPM openings are listed by team and org. Migrate Mate is the recommended starting point for international candidates because it surfaces Netflix TPM roles specifically confirmed for visa sponsorship, so you're not guessing which listings are open to international applicants. Tailor your application to highlight program ownership and cross-functional technical leadership, which are the core signals Netflix screens for at the TPM level.
What qualifications does Netflix expect for Technical Program Manager candidates?
Netflix TPM roles typically require a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a closely related field, plus substantial experience managing complex technical programs across multiple engineering teams. Candidates who advance to panel interviews usually demonstrate hands-on technical depth, not just coordination skills. For senior TPM levels, experience with large-scale distributed systems or streaming infrastructure is a meaningful differentiator.
How do I time my application if my visa status is expiring soon?
If you're on F-1 OPT, apply at least six to nine months before your OPT end date to give Netflix's immigration team enough runway to file an H-1B cap petition or assess an alternative like E-3 or TN. If you miss the H-1B registration window in March, ask the recruiter whether a cap-exempt entity or bridge arrangement is available. USCIS processes H-1B petitions on a fiscal year cycle, so timing your offer relative to the October 1 start date matters significantly.
