INTRODUCTION
Datadog SQL (DDSQL) and Sheets are two of the newest products in Graphing (Datadog's most-used product area). Both have early traction and strong conviction behind them, but neither has reached its full audience yet. This role owns both products and has one primary job: figure out what drives their growth, and make it happen.
That means understanding who uses these products today, who should be using them but isn't, and what's standing in the way. You'll own the end-to-end adoption funnel, and you'll have the latitude to pull whatever levers are needed: improving onboarding, bringing in new data sources, redesigning discovery, expanding where and how these products surface across Datadog, or building entirely new capabilities.
As you develop a deep understanding of what makes these products grow, you'll also be expected to identify new bets for the broader Graphing suite. The person closest to how users adopt and get value from analytical tools is in the best position to see what's missing: new products, new personas, new use cases that Datadog isn't serving today.
At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
What you'll do:
- Own DDSQL and Sheets end to end: roadmap, adoption, and growth strategy
- Define and execute the strategy for bringing third-party data into Datadog: from market research and use-case definition through pricing
- Understand and improve the adoption funnel for both products: instrument key flows, analyze where users activate or drop off, run experiments, and ship product changes that measurably grow usage
- Expand Datadog SQL from a standalone editor into a platform-wide query capability on all graphs
- Identify and pitch net-new investment areas — adjacent products, new personas, or expansion opportunities — that grow Graphing's footprint beyond its current scope
- Redesign how users discover and get started with Graphing products: rethink list pages, build onboarding flows, and create entry points that don't assume prior Datadog expertise
- Identify and pitch net-new investment areas for the Graphing suite: new products, new personas, or new capabilities that emerge from what you learn scaling DDSQL and Sheets
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Who you are:
- You're comfortable with 01 and expansion work at the same time, and can context-switch between market research, UI definition, and deep backend collaboration
- You're data-driven and analytically independent. You can pull your own funnel data, cohort analyses, and experiment results — and translate them into product decisions without waiting on a data team
- You're entrepreneurial. You're energized by ambiguity, comfortable forming a point of view with incomplete data, and excited to define problems
- You have a strong technical background and can hold your own in conversations about query engines, data schemas, and storage architecture.
- You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the willingness to present and defend your ideas to technical stakeholders and executives alike
- 5+ years product experience
BENEFITS & GROWTH
- New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)
- Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing
- Intra-departmental mentor and buddy program for in-house networking
- An inclusive company culture, ability to join our Community Guilds
- Access to Inclusion Talks, our Internal panel discussions
- Free, global Spring Health benefits for employees and dependents age 6+
- Competitive global benefits
Benefits and Growth listed above may vary based on the country of your employment and the nature of your employment with Datadog.

Tips for Finding Product Owner Jobs at Datadog
Frame your PM artifacts for U.S. hiring
Datadog's Product Owner interviews emphasize data-driven roadmap decisions and cross-functional alignment. Translate your portfolio into U.S.-style case studies showing metrics, trade-off reasoning, and engineering collaboration, not just feature delivery.
Target Datadog's observability product lines
Product Owner openings at Datadog concentrate around infrastructure monitoring, APM, and security products. Applying to roles aligned with your domain expertise signals fit faster and gives your sponsorship conversation a concrete business case to anchor on.
Confirm LCA posting before accepting an offer
Before Datadog can file your H-1B petition, the Department of Labor requires a certified Labor Condition Application and a public access file. Ask your recruiter where the role's worksite is classified, since remote and hybrid arrangements affect which prevailing wage level applies.
Use OPT strategically to prove your value
If you're on F-1 OPT, starting at Datadog before your H-1B filing window gives the team direct evidence of your impact. Strong internal advocacy from your product and engineering partners materially strengthens the specialty occupation argument USCIS evaluates.
Build your search around verified sponsors on Migrate Mate
Filter for Product Owner roles at Datadog by visa type on Migrate Mate so you only spend time on positions where sponsorship is confirmed. That narrows your application list and removes the awkward early-stage sponsorship question entirely.
Negotiate premium processing into your offer timeline
USCIS premium processing shortens adjudication to 15 business days. When reviewing your offer letter, confirm whether Datadog covers this cost, since Product Owner start dates often align with product planning cycles and delays can disrupt team onboarding.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Datadog sponsor H-1B visas for Product Owners?
Yes, Datadog sponsors H-1B visas for Product Owner roles. The company has an established pattern of supporting work visa petitions for this function, which USCIS evaluates under the specialty occupation standard. Your application will need to demonstrate that the role requires a degree in a specific field, such as computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, rather than a general business background.
Which visa types does Datadog commonly use for Product Owner roles?
Datadog sponsors H-1B and H-1B1 visas for Product Owners, along with F-1 OPT and CPT for candidates already studying in the United States. For longer-term permanent residence, the company supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways through the PERM labor certification process. TN visa status is also available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories.
How do I apply for Product Owner jobs at Datadog?
Browse current Product Owner openings on Migrate Mate to find Datadog roles where visa sponsorship is confirmed, then apply directly through Datadog's careers portal. Tailor your application to the specific product area, such as infrastructure monitoring or application performance management, and be prepared for a structured loop covering product sense, technical fluency, and cross-functional leadership scenarios.
What qualifications does Datadog expect for Product Owner positions?
Datadog typically expects Product Owners to hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a closely related technical field, and to have hands-on experience shipping software products in a B2B or developer-tooling environment. Familiarity with observability concepts, cloud infrastructure, or DevOps workflows strengthens your candidacy because the role requires deep collaboration with engineering teams building complex technical systems.
How do I plan my timeline around Datadog's H-1B sponsorship process?
The H-1B cap lottery opens each March for an October 1 start date, so accepting an offer at Datadog by late February gives your employer time to prepare the petition. If you're already on OPT with a valid authorization period, you can start before the lottery and continue working under a timely filed extension. USCIS premium processing is available if your start date requires a faster decision.
