About Datadog
We're on a mission to build the best platform in the world for engineers to understand and scale their systems, applications, and teams. We operate at a high scale - trillions of data points per day — providing always-on alerting, metrics visualization, logs, and application tracing for tens of thousands of companies. Our engineering culture values pragmatism, honesty, and simplicity to solve hard problems the right way.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a manager to lead the Source Security team within our broader SDLC Security org. This team is responsible for evaluating the security properties of every single commit at Datadog using a combination of static analysis and LLM based review systems, as well as the governance of our source code and third party dependency ecosystem. You will own the roadmap for growing our existing agentic reviewers, working to maintain the safety and reliability of our systems while the volume of contributions scales dramatically with our adoption of coding agents. You'll partner with our developer experience organizations on securing our source code and CI environments, and our product teams on making sure that our security controls scale and that the best practices we develop internally are reflected for our customers as well.
You'll join at an ideal time to make a big impact as the need for robust supply chain security is higher than it's ever been. Datadog as a platform is growing fast and is used very widely, and the continued and exciting expansion of our product portfolio requires agile thinkers with a deep grounding in security fundamentals.
At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds, and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.
What You'll Do:
- Lead a small team, working as a hands on technical contributor while building out the roadmap for evaluating the safety of coding agent output using a combination of static analysis and LLM evaluations.
- Partner with our Developer Experience teams on the configuration of our source code management solutions, ensuring secure guardrails are in place by default.
- Explore solutions in the coding agent security space such as sandboxing and hook based monitors.
- Guide and mentor a team of security and software engineers, emphasizing career development, inclusivity, and high performance.
- Take a pragmatic, risk-based approach to complex technical problems and work with your team to produce well-defined and actionable plans.
- Balance your time between management and hands-on technical work.
- Participate in Datadog's oncall and incident response efforts.
- Have a direct impact on users and the overall trust of our platform.
Who You Are:
- Experienced managing an engineering team distributed across multiple timezones.
- Fluent in one or more modern coding languages (Python, Go, JavaScript, etc.)
- Familiar with continuous security scanning and fine-tuning SAST rules and methodology, as well as AI based coding tools such as Claude, Codex, and Cursor.
- Familiar with Github, Gitlab, or other modern source code management and CI solutions.
- You are able to work closely with engineering and DevOps teams to integrate security seamlessly into the development process.
- An excellent communicator and collaborator, able to work effectively through complex technical problems with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in a fast paced, high growth environment, and able to adapt strategies and solutions in response to emerging challenges and opportunities.
Bonus Points:
- Passionate about building products that engineers love and believe in the true outcome of DevSecOps.
- Familiar with formal verification, fuzzing, or code correctness methodologies.
- Experience productionizing LLM based or agentic workflows.
- Familiar with product workflows, and building security into the user experience.
Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you're passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.
Benefits and Growth:
- New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP).
- Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing.
- Intradepartmental mentor and buddy program for in-house networking.
- An inclusive company culture, ability to join our Community Guilds (Datadog employee resource groups).
- Access to Inclusion Talks, our internal panel discussions.
- Free, global mental health benefits for employees and dependents age 6+.
- Competitive global benefits.
Benefits and Growth listed above may vary based on the country of your employment and the nature of your employment with Datadog.

Tailor your resume to Datadog's stack
Engineering Technician roles at Datadog typically involve hands-on work with cloud infrastructure, monitoring systems, and hardware lifecycle management. Highlight experience with Linux environments, data center operations, or observability tooling to align with what their technical teams actually need.
Verify your OPT STEM extension eligibility early
Datadog sponsors F-1 OPT, and STEM extension eligibility depends on your degree field matching the Department of Homeland Security's STEM designated degree program list. Confirm your classification before your first OPT period ends, since the 24-month extension must be filed before your EAD expires.
Understand how TN status applies to your role
Canadian and Mexican nationals targeting Engineering Technician roles at Datadog can pursue TN status under the USMCA engineer category. Your job duties must align with the qualifying occupations USCIS recognizes, so review your offer letter language against the TN occupation list before your interview.
Ask about H-1B sponsorship timing during interviews
Datadog sponsors H-1B petitions, but the April lottery registration deadline means timing matters. If you're interviewing between January and March, clarify whether your offer can be structured to support that cycle so you're not left waiting an entire year for the next registration window.
Browse open Engineering Technician roles on Migrate Mate
Datadog posts Engineering Technician openings across multiple locations and team functions. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Datadog roles that list visa sponsorship, so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than guessing from a generic job listing.
Prepare your credentials for PERM documentation
For EB-2 or EB-3 green card pathways, Datadog's HR and legal teams will need documentation of your qualifications for the PERM labor certification process. Gather official transcripts, credential evaluations for non-U.S. degrees, and employment verification letters before the process starts to avoid delays.

Find Engineering Technician at Datadog JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Datadog sponsor H-1B visas for Engineering Technicians?
Yes, Datadog sponsors H-1B visas for Engineering Technician roles. Because H-1B cap-subject petitions are subject to an annual lottery with a registration window in March, your start date and offer timing both matter. Roles requiring a specialty occupation designation must have clearly defined degree requirements tied to the position's core duties.
How do I apply for Engineering Technician jobs at Datadog?
You can browse and apply for Engineering Technician roles at Datadog directly through Migrate Mate, which filters for positions where visa sponsorship is confirmed. When you apply, tailor your application to reflect hands-on technical experience relevant to Datadog's infrastructure and monitoring products, since generic resumes are less likely to advance in a technical screening process.
Which visa types does Datadog commonly use for Engineering Technician roles?
Datadog sponsors a range of visa categories for Engineering Technician positions, including H-1B, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals under USMCA, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students. For longer-term pathways, Datadog also supports EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship, which requires PERM labor certification filed through the Department of Labor.
What qualifications does Datadog expect for Engineering Technician positions?
Datadog's Engineering Technician roles typically require hands-on experience with hardware systems, data center operations, or infrastructure support in a fast-paced technology environment. Familiarity with Linux, networking fundamentals, and cloud-adjacent tooling is commonly expected. For H-1B eligibility, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation, which generally means a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related technical field is required.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a role at Datadog?
Timeline depends heavily on visa type. F-1 OPT authorization from USCIS can take 90 days or more, so apply well before your program end date. H-1B cap-subject petitions have an October 1 start date following the spring lottery. TN status for Canadians can be obtained at a port of entry on the same day. EB-2 and EB-3 green card processes through PERM typically span one to three years or longer depending on your country of birth.
