INTRODUCTION
As a Senior Technical Curriculum Developer on the Product and Engineering Enablement team, you will build upon existing internal programs and create new programs that empower Datadog employees with the skills, mindsets, practices and sense of community needed to build and deliver best-in-class software. Our team builds robust, scalable, and standardized programs focused on product and technology knowledge where everyone, regardless of their team or location, has an equitable experience and relevant enablement paths. You will curate and create educational resources for Software Engineers, Product Managers, Product Designers, and Data Analysts. You’ll work together with our other curriculum developers who have built existing courses. You’ll also work independently with internal subject matter experts to maintain and create new hands-on experiences that introduce Datadog engineers to how we develop software, use our tooling, and interact with source code repositories. You’ll support the development of ongoing courses that introduce new software, processes, and tooling across the organization. These topics include technical tools and collaborative workflows such as service mesh, deployment pipelines, and code review. You’ll build courses for other roles around the company, including engineering managers and product managers. Although this is a well established role, there are many opportunities to define and improve upon workflows, curriculum, and overall effectiveness of the program. You should be comfortable owning projects with many opinionated stakeholders where you will define both success and the means to get there. At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
What You’ll Do:
- Develop our internal facing education efforts built for roles throughout Datadog’s product and engineering department, in collaboration with enablement program managers and subject matter experts.
- Partner with our engineering and product teams to produce engaging enablement materials including code labs, live and recorded presentations, documentation, presentation, facilitator guides and other content used by Datadog's engineers.
- Evaluate engineering training requirements, and turn those requirements into a roadmap with clearly scoped courses that have well defined learning paths.
- Document our processes so that other teams can leverage our tools and offerings.
- Help create and maintain our technical systems, tools, and environments used in our various enablement programs.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Who You Are:
- You have previous experience as an SRE, developer, product manager, or other technical role in a cloud computing environment, including monitoring tools and observability.
- You have 5+ years of experience building courses for technical audiences (e.g. engineers, developers etc), with a solid grasp of instructional design. You can explain technical concepts to intermediate and advanced audiences in an engaging and informative manner.
- You translate concepts from stakeholders into slides, diagrams, flow charts, and other visuals in order to communicate engineering concepts and workflows in an engaging way.
- You can start projects given a general specification, and take them all the way to completion.
- You are able to prioritize multiple projects and continue work on one when another is blocked.
- Can coach other engineers to deliver the onboarding program content (you will not be directly teaching the courses you create except in rare circumstances).
Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.
BENEFITS AND GROWTH

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Developer Jobs at Datadog Jobs
Align your portfolio to Datadog's stack
Datadog's Developer roles center on Go, Python, and distributed systems. Before applying, make sure your GitHub, personal projects, or work samples reflect experience with observability, metrics pipelines, or cloud infrastructure. Hiring managers screen for this before sponsorship ever comes up.
Target roles that match your degree field exactly
H-1B approval for Developer roles depends on your degree matching the specialty occupation. A computer science or software engineering degree strengthens the petition considerably. Degrees in adjacent fields like information systems or applied math require more documentation from your employer's immigration attorney.
Start the LCA process as early as possible
Your employer files a Labor Condition Application with DOL before submitting the H-1B petition to USCIS. This step takes time and cannot be rushed. If you receive an offer, ask the recruiting team to initiate this process immediately rather than waiting until after onboarding paperwork is complete.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Developer roles
Filtering for Developer positions at companies with active sponsorship history saves significant research time. Migrate Mate surfaces Datadog's open Developer roles alongside verified sponsorship data, so you're applying to positions where a visa pathway already exists rather than guessing from a job board.
Prepare for technical interviews before discussing visa needs
Datadog's engineering interview process includes system design and coding rounds that evaluate distributed systems knowledge. Bring up sponsorship only after passing technical screens. Raising it prematurely can stall a process that the hiring team controls, not the immigration team.

Find Developer at Datadog JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Datadog sponsor H-1B visas for Developers?
Yes, Datadog sponsors H-1B visas for Developer roles. The company has a consistent track record of filing H-1B petitions for software engineers and related technical positions. If you're on OPT and receive an offer, Datadog's immigration process supports the transition to H-1B status, subject to the annual USCIS lottery for cap-subject petitions.
How do I apply for Developer jobs at Datadog?
Apply directly through Datadog's careers page or find open Developer roles through Migrate Mate, which surfaces positions at companies with active sponsorship track records. Tailor your resume to Datadog's technical stack, particularly experience with Go, Python, cloud infrastructure, or observability systems. Expect a recruiter screen followed by multiple technical rounds before an offer is extended.
Which visa types does Datadog commonly sponsor for Developer roles?
Datadog sponsors H-1B and H-1B1 visas for Developer positions, along with F-1 OPT and CPT for students in active programs. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles. For longer-term pathways, Datadog also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for eligible Developer hires.
What qualifications does Datadog expect for sponsored Developer roles?
Most Developer roles at Datadog require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related technical field. This degree requirement is not just a hiring preference but a legal requirement for H-1B specialty occupation classification. Hands-on experience with distributed systems, cloud platforms, or backend infrastructure strengthens both your candidacy and the visa petition.
How do I time my application around visa sponsorship deadlines?
If you need an H-1B and your OPT expires before October 1, you'll need Cap-Gap protection to remain authorized during the transition. USCIS typically opens H-1B registration in March, with an October 1 start date. Starting your job search at least six months before your OPT end date gives you enough runway to receive an offer, go through technical interviews, and allow your employer to file before the registration window closes.
