Align your portfolio to Deloitte's client work
Deloitte Developer roles are often billable to clients, so projects involving SAP, Salesforce, cloud migration, or government IT carry more weight than general software experience. Frame your portfolio around enterprise systems and industry-specific solutions.
Target Deloitte's technology practice areas directly
Deloitte staffs Developers across distinct practices like Government and Public Services, Financial Services, and Human Capital. Applying to roles scoped to a specific practice improves your chances of landing with a team that has established visa workflows and recurring sponsorship needs.
Clarify your visa type before the offer stage
Deloitte sponsors multiple visa categories for Developers. If you're Australian, an E-3 is faster to process than an H-1B and skips the lottery entirely. Knowing which category applies to you before negotiations start prevents delays when HR initiates the filing process.
Understand how H-1B timing affects your start date
H-1B cap-subject petitions have an October 1 start date after the March lottery. If you're interviewing in the back half of the year, confirm with Deloitte's immigration team whether a cap-exempt filing path or a different visa category could cover an earlier start.
Prepare your educational credentials for specialty occupation review
USCIS scrutinizes whether a Developer role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Having a degree in computer science, software engineering, or a directly related field strengthens your petition. If your degree is in a different discipline, gather documentation showing how your coursework maps to the role.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Deloitte sponsor H-1B visas for Developers?
Yes, Deloitte sponsors H-1B visas for Developer roles. The firm works with immigration counsel to handle petitions across its technology and consulting practices. Cap-subject H-1B filings follow the annual April lottery, so your start date will typically align to October 1 of that fiscal year. Deloitte also sponsors H-1B1 visas for Chilean and Singaporean nationals in qualifying roles.
How do I apply for Developer jobs at Deloitte?
Apply through Deloitte's careers portal or find roles filtered by sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate. Deloitte's Developer hiring is organized by practice area, so identifying which business unit aligns with your background, whether that's technology consulting, government services, or financial services, will help you target the right openings and tailor your application accordingly.
Which visa types does Deloitte commonly use for Developer roles?
Deloitte sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, E-3 visa, and Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for Developer roles. The right category depends on your nationality and career stage. Australian citizens are commonly placed on E-3 visas given the faster processing and no lottery requirement. Green Card sponsorship through PERM is typically available after you've established yourself in a role.
What qualifications does Deloitte expect for Developer positions?
Deloitte typically looks for Developers with a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or an adjacent technical field. For consulting-focused Developer roles, experience with enterprise platforms like SAP, Salesforce, or major cloud providers is a significant differentiator. Roles vary from early-career analysts to senior technical leads, so the depth of experience expected scales with the level you're targeting.
How do I understand the timeline from offer to visa approval at Deloitte?
Timeline depends heavily on visa type. E-3 consular processing typically runs two to four weeks after your interview is scheduled. H-1B petitions without premium processing take three to six months after USCIS receives the filing, though Deloitte's immigration team can request premium processing to reduce that to around two weeks. PERM labor certification for Green Card sponsorship runs on a separate, longer track coordinated by DOL.
