Tailor your credentials to Deloitte's specialty areas
Deloitte's tax practice spans M&A tax, international tax, and partnership tax. Align your resume and credentials to one of these verticals before applying, as Tax Senior postings are typically tied to a specific service line, not a generalist function.
Pursue CPA licensure before starting interviews
Deloitte's Tax Senior roles consistently list CPA certification as a core requirement. Candidates who are CPA-eligible but not yet licensed often face delayed offers while the firm waits for licensure to clear, which can compress your visa filing timeline.
Target office locations with active tax practices
Deloitte concentrates its tax headcount in major metros like New York, Chicago, San Jose, and McLean. Applying to offices with larger client portfolios improves your odds of landing a Tax Senior role that qualifies for H-1B or E-3 sponsorship.
Understand which visa fits your nationality before your offer
Australian citizens can pursue the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and allows year-round filing. If you're eligible, ask your Deloitte recruiter to confirm E-3 is an option early, since it avoids H-1B cap timing constraints entirely.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Tax Senior roles at Deloitte
Deloitte posts Tax Senior positions across multiple business units simultaneously, making it easy to miss relevant openings. Migrate Mate filters active Deloitte listings by visa type and role, so you can focus applications on positions with confirmed sponsorship history.
Account for PERM timelines if you're targeting a Green Card
Deloitte sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for Tax Seniors, but PERM labor certification with the DOL takes 12 to 18 months before an I-140 petition can be filed. Start that conversation with your manager well before your H-1B renewal window closes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Deloitte sponsor H-1B visas for Tax Seniors?
Yes, Deloitte sponsors H-1B visas for Tax Senior roles. The firm has an established immigration program and works with in-house immigration counsel to manage filings. Because H-1B cap-subject petitions are lottery-dependent, Deloitte typically initiates the process well in advance of the April registration window. If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, Deloitte can file an H-1B transfer, which is not subject to the lottery.
How do I apply for Tax Senior jobs at Deloitte?
Apply directly through Deloitte's careers portal, where Tax Senior roles are posted by service line and office location. You can also find Deloitte's active Tax Senior openings on Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm sponsorship eligibility before applying. When applying, specify your visa status clearly on the application, as Deloitte's recruiting team uses that information to route sponsorship discussions early.
Which visa types does Deloitte sponsor for Tax Senior roles?
Deloitte sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, and E-3 visas for Tax Senior positions, along with EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for longer-term hires. H-1B1 is available to Chilean and Singaporean nationals and does not require a lottery. E-3 visa is exclusive to Australian citizens and offers year-round filing with no cap pressure. Which visa applies depends entirely on your nationality and current immigration status.
What qualifications does Deloitte expect for a Tax Senior role?
Deloitte typically expects two to four years of public accounting experience in a tax function, with a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA licensure or active CPA candidacy is a firm expectation in most postings. Specialty experience in areas like international tax, M&A, or federal tax compliance strengthens your candidacy significantly. A master's in taxation is common among hires but not universally required.
How do I time my visa filing if I receive a Tax Senior offer from Deloitte?
Timing depends on your visa category. For H-1B cap-subject cases, USCIS registration opens in March and approvals take effect October 1, so an offer finalized outside that window may require waiting a full cycle. E-3 and H-1B transfer cases can be filed year-round with faster turnaround. Deloitte's immigration team typically contacts you shortly after offer acceptance to begin the process, but confirming your start date aligns with your visa timeline is something to raise with your recruiter proactively.
