Align your credentials with CPA requirements
Fitch Ratings evaluates Tax Senior candidates against U.S. CPA standards. If you hold a foreign accounting qualification, document how it maps to CPA-level competencies before applying, since this directly affects how your specialty occupation case is built for H-1B or E-3 purposes.
Target Fitch's tax function through the right channels
Fitch's in-house tax team handles transfer pricing, international tax, and financial products taxation. Filter your job search to roles referencing these areas, as they carry stronger specialty occupation arguments and are more likely to trigger sponsorship conversations early in the process.
Clarify sponsorship intent before the final interview
Fitch sponsors multiple visa types for this role, but internal approval timelines vary by visa category. Raise your work authorization status before the offer stage so the hiring team can loop in HR and confirm which filing pathway fits your situation and their timeline.
Understand how OPT cap-gap affects your start date
If you're on F-1 OPT and Fitch extends an offer, your ability to start depends on whether your OPT expiry and any H-1B cap-gap coverage align with USCIS's October 1 start date. Confirm your I-20 end date and OPT authorization window before accepting.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified Tax Senior openings
Fitch Ratings posts Tax Senior openings across multiple cities. Use Migrate Mate to filter roles by visa type and confirm which positions are currently open to sponsored candidates, so you're applying to active listings rather than reposted roles with closed headcounts.
Prepare for PERM documentation if targeting permanent residency
Fitch supports EB-2 and EB-3 pathways for this role, which require a PERM labor certification filed with DOL. Gather your educational transcripts and prior employment records early, since PERM audit requests can stall timelines if documentation isn't already organized and verified.

Does Fitch Ratings sponsor H-1B visas for Tax Seniors?
Yes, Fitch Ratings sponsors H-1B visas for Tax Senior roles. The position qualifies as a specialty occupation given the degree-level tax and accounting expertise required. Because H-1B is subject to the annual cap and lottery, timing matters. Fitch typically initiates the process well ahead of USCIS registration windows, so early communication with HR about your status is important.
How do I apply for Tax Senior jobs at Fitch Ratings?
Applications for Tax Senior roles at Fitch Ratings go through their careers portal. You can also browse verified open positions on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles where Fitch is actively sponsoring international candidates. Tailor your application to highlight U.S. tax compliance experience, financial products knowledge, and any CPA or equivalent international credentials relevant to the role.
Which visa types does Fitch Ratings commonly use for Tax Senior roles?
Fitch Ratings sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT for Tax Senior positions, along with EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa pathways for permanent residency. E-3 is available to Australian citizens and often processes faster than H-1B. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying accounting and finance roles.
What qualifications does Fitch Ratings expect for a Tax Senior role?
Fitch typically looks for a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, finance, or taxation, along with several years of experience in corporate tax, international tax, or financial services tax. CPA licensure is strongly preferred. Candidates with transfer pricing, FATCA compliance, or investment fund taxation backgrounds are particularly relevant to Fitch's core business in credit ratings and financial analytics.
How do I understand the visa filing timeline after receiving an offer from Fitch Ratings?
The timeline depends on your visa category. H-1B requires USCIS registration in March for an October 1 start date. E-3 can be filed directly at a U.S. consulate with a turnaround of two to four weeks. TN can be processed at the border. PERM-based Green Card cases filed through DOL typically take one to two years before an I-140 petition can be filed with USCIS.
