Align Your Credentials to CohnReznick's Practice Groups
CohnReznick hires Tax Seniors into specialized verticals like real estate, government contracting, and financial services. Framing your experience around one of these practice areas, not generalist tax work, makes your application significantly more competitive.
Pursue CPA Licensure Before Applying
CohnReznick expects Tax Seniors to be CPA-eligible or already licensed. If you're on OPT or J-1, use that window to complete your CPA exams. Firms treat active licensure as a proxy for long-term investment, which strengthens the sponsorship conversation.
Target Offices in States With Faster LCA Processing
CohnReznick operates across multiple metro markets. DOL-certified Labor Condition Applications are required before USCIS adjudicates your H-1B, so applying to offices in areas with historically shorter DOL processing queues can reduce your pre-filing timeline by weeks.
Use Migrate Mate to Identify Active Tax Senior Openings
CohnReznick's open Tax Senior roles shift by office and season. Use Migrate Mate to filter for current sponsorship-eligible openings at CohnReznick so you're applying to live positions where the hiring team has already greenlit sponsorship for the role.
Clarify Sponsorship Intent During the Offer Stage
Once you receive an offer, confirm whether CohnReznick will file a cap-subject H-1B or pursue an alternative like E-3 or TN. Ask HR which entity and office will be listed on the petition, since multi-office firms sometimes file under a parent entity with different prevailing wage obligations.
Prepare a Degree Equivalency Letter if Your Credential Is Foreign
USCIS requires that a Tax Senior role qualify as a specialty occupation, typically demanding a bachelor's degree or higher in accounting or a closely related field. If your degree is from outside the U.S., obtain a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved agency before your employer files Form I-129.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does CohnReznick sponsor H-1B visas for Tax Seniors?
Yes, CohnReznick sponsors H-1B visas for Tax Senior roles. The firm has an established pattern of supporting international hires in its tax practice across multiple office locations. Because H-1B cap-subject petitions are subject to the annual lottery, timing your offer and application around the March registration window is critical to maintaining uninterrupted work authorization.
Which visa types does CohnReznick commonly use for Tax Senior roles?
CohnReznick sponsors several nonimmigrant visa categories for Tax Senior positions, including H-1B, E-3 visa for Australian citizens, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, and J-1 visa for exchange visitors. The right visa depends on your nationality and current status. H-1B is the most common long-term path for non-treaty nationals.
What qualifications does CohnReznick expect from a Tax Senior?
CohnReznick typically looks for two to four years of public accounting experience, a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, and active progress toward or completion of the CPA license. Familiarity with pass-through entity taxation, partnership structures, or industry-specific tax issues in verticals like real estate or government contracting strengthens your candidacy significantly.
How do I apply for Tax Senior jobs at CohnReznick?
You can browse and apply for Tax Senior openings at CohnReznick directly through Migrate Mate, which filters for visa-sponsorship-eligible positions so you're not wasting time on roles that won't support your status. When applying, tailor your resume to CohnReznick's industry verticals and confirm sponsorship eligibility with the recruiter early in the screening process.
How do I manage my visa timeline when switching to CohnReznick from another employer?
If you're currently on H-1B status, CohnReznick can file an H-1B transfer petition and you can begin work upon receipt, without waiting for approval, under portability rules. If you're on OPT with limited time remaining, your employer needs to file before your EAD expires. Confirm the expected DOL and USCIS processing timeline with HR during offer negotiation.
