Frame your degree for specialty occupation
H-1B eligibility hinges on USCIS classifying your role as a specialty occupation. For Program Associate positions, a degree in finance, economics, or accounting strengthens that case. A general business degree with no quantitative focus can invite a Request for Evidence.
Target Fitch's structured associate intake windows
Fitch typically hires Program Associates through defined recruiting cycles tied to university graduation timelines. Applying outside these windows reduces your chances of landing in a cohort where sponsorship infrastructure is already in place and budget is allocated.
Ask directly about E-3 eligibility during interviews
Australian citizens should raise E-3 sponsorship explicitly with Fitch's HR team. Unlike H-1B, E-3 has no lottery and can be filed any time of year. Fitch sponsors E-3 for this function, so clarifying this early prevents unnecessary delays after an offer.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open Program Associate roles
Fitch posts Program Associate openings across multiple channels, and not all listings surface easily. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Fitch Ratings roles that include visa sponsorship, so you're only spending time on positions where international candidates are genuinely considered.
Align your offer negotiation timeline with LCA processing
Before Fitch can file your H-1B or E-3 petition, the DOL must certify a Labor Condition Application, which typically takes seven business days. Build that window into your expected start date conversation so your offer letter reflects a realistic first day.

Find Program Associate at Fitch Ratings JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Fitch Ratings sponsor H-1B visas for Program Associates?
Yes, Fitch Ratings sponsors H-1B visas for Program Associates. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation given its analytical and financial nature, which is a core H-1B requirement. Because H-1B is subject to an annual lottery with an April filing window, timing your application to align with Fitch's recruiting cycle is important for cap-subject candidates.
How do I apply for Program Associate jobs at Fitch Ratings?
Applications go through Fitch Ratings' careers portal, where Program Associate roles are listed by location and practice area. Fitch recruits heavily through on-campus programs at target universities, so checking early in the fall or spring recruiting season improves your odds. You can also browse current openings on Migrate Mate, which filters for roles where visa sponsorship is confirmed.
Which visa types does Fitch Ratings commonly sponsor for Program Associates?
Fitch sponsors several visa categories for Program Associates, including H-1B, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT or CPT for students still in their academic program. For candidates pursuing permanent residence, Fitch also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, though those typically follow a period of employment rather than accompanying an initial offer.
What qualifications does Fitch Ratings expect for Program Associate candidates?
Fitch typically looks for a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related quantitative field. Strong financial modeling skills and familiarity with credit analysis concepts carry weight in the selection process. Some roles specify preferred industry exposure such as structured finance or corporate credit. A degree that directly maps to the role's analytical requirements also strengthens the USCIS specialty occupation determination for H-1B purposes.
How do I plan my timeline if Fitch Ratings is sponsoring my H-1B as a new Program Associate?
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start date, so your offer needs to be in place before that window. If you're on F-1 OPT, you can begin working while the petition is pending under cap-gap protection. Fitch must also file a DOL Labor Condition Application before submitting your petition, which typically takes seven business days, so factor that into your expected start date.
