Align your credentials to ratings methodology
Fitch Finance roles often require demonstrated understanding of credit analysis frameworks, not just general accounting or CFA credentials. Tailor your resume to show sector-specific analytical work, whether in structured finance, corporates, or sovereigns, before applying.
Target roles that match your visa category
Fitch sponsors multiple visa types for Finance positions, including H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT. Knowing which petition type your situation calls for helps you prioritize openings where your authorization timeline aligns with the employer's onboarding window.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Finance openings by visa type
Fitch posts Finance roles across several specializations simultaneously. Use Migrate Mate to filter by your specific visa category so you're only reviewing positions where Fitch has an active sponsorship history for that authorization type.
Prepare your degree equivalency documentation early
For H-1B specialty occupation filings, USCIS requires a direct connection between your degree field and the Finance role. If your degree is from a non-U.S. institution, get a credential evaluation completed before your offer stage to avoid delays.
Understand how OPT timing affects your start date
If you're on F-1 OPT, coordinate your application timeline so your OPT authorization covers your anticipated start date. Fitch's Finance hiring cycles can run several months, and gaps between OPT expiry and H-1B cap-subject approval require cap-gap or STEM OPT planning.
Clarify sponsorship scope during offer negotiation
Ask your recruiter whether the role supports both the initial nonimmigrant petition and long-term Green Card sponsorship under EB-2 or EB-3. Fitch has sponsored both pathways for Finance professionals, but PERM labor certification timelines vary by role and location.

Find Finance at Fitch Ratings JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Fitch Ratings sponsor H-1B visas for Finance roles?
Yes, Fitch Ratings sponsors H-1B visas for Finance positions. The H-1B is the most common pathway for international candidates in analytical and research roles at financial services firms. Because Finance roles at Fitch require specialized knowledge linking a specific degree field to the position, they typically satisfy USCIS specialty occupation criteria without significant friction.
How do I apply for Finance jobs at Fitch Ratings?
Applications go through Fitch's careers portal, where Finance roles are listed by business line and location. Tailoring your application to the specific ratings sector, such as structured finance, corporate, or public finance, improves your chances significantly. You can also browse open Finance roles at Fitch filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate, which tracks sponsorship history by employer and role category.
Which visa types does Fitch Ratings commonly use for Finance positions?
Fitch sponsors several visa categories for Finance roles, including H-1B, E-3 for Australian nationals, TN for Canadian and Mexican professionals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students in qualifying programs. For longer-term pathways, Fitch has also supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for Finance professionals who have progressed within the organization.
What qualifications does Fitch Ratings expect for Finance roles?
Most Finance roles at Fitch require a bachelor's degree or higher in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field. Analytical roles in credit ratings often favor candidates with sector knowledge, such as structured products, leveraged finance, or municipal credit. Professional designations like the CFA are viewed positively, particularly for associate and senior analyst positions. Internship experience in investment banking, asset management, or rating agencies strengthens applications considerably.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Finance hire at Fitch Ratings?
Timeline depends on visa type. H-1B cap-subject petitions follow the April lottery with an October 1 start date, so offers typically need to be in place by February or March for that cycle. E-3 and TN visas can be arranged more quickly, often within a few weeks of an offer. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 runs on a separate multi-year timeline and usually begins after initial employment.
