Align your credentials to Fitch's credit focus
Fitch Investment Banking roles emphasize structured finance, debt capital markets, and credit ratings advisory. Frame your academic background and any CFA or CAIA progress around fixed-income analysis so your credentials speak directly to the work you'll be doing.
Target roles that map to your visa category
E-3 and TN applicants face faster timelines than H-1B lottery candidates. If you hold Australian citizenship or Canadian or Mexican nationality, prioritize open requisitions that can move to offer quickly, since these categories don't require lottery selection.
Verify your OPT or CPT timeline before applying
F-1 OPT gives you 12 months of work authorization, with a 24-month STEM extension if your degree qualifies. Confirm your program's CIP code meets STEM criteria before your offer stage so Fitch's HR team can plan your H-1B transition without gaps.
Prepare for a multi-round technical interview process
Fitch interviews for Investment Banking roles typically include financial modeling exercises and credit scenario analysis. Having work samples or deal experience tied to rated instruments, even from academic projects, strengthens your candidacy before sponsorship conversations begin.
Confirm the LCA is filed before your start date
For H-1B and E-3 hires, your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL certifying prevailing wage compliance before USCIS processes the petition. Ask your recruiter for the expected LCA certification date so your start date is realistic.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Fitch Ratings sponsor H-1B visas for Investment Bankings?
Yes, Fitch Ratings sponsors H-1B visas for Investment Banking roles. Fitch has a documented pattern of H-1B filings across its financial analysis and capital markets functions. Because H-1B is subject to the annual lottery, timing your application to align with the April USCIS registration window is critical if you're transitioning from OPT or another status.
How do I apply for Investment Banking jobs at Fitch Ratings?
Applications go through Fitch's careers portal, where roles are posted by business line and location. Before applying, review the job description carefully for degree and credential requirements, since Fitch Investment Banking roles often specify finance, economics, or a related quantitative field. Migrate Mate lets you browse current Fitch Investment Banking openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, which helps you identify the right roles before applying directly.
Which visa types does Fitch Ratings commonly use for Investment Banking roles?
Fitch sponsors H-1B, E-3 visa, TN visa, and EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card pathways for Investment Banking positions, and also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students. E-3 visa is available to Australian citizens and processes faster than H-1B. TN visa applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. The right pathway depends on your citizenship, degree field, and how quickly you need authorization.
What qualifications does Fitch Ratings expect for Investment Banking roles?
Most Investment Banking roles at Fitch require a bachelor's degree or higher in finance, economics, accounting, or a related analytical field. Roles in structured finance or debt capital markets frequently favor candidates with credit analysis experience or progress toward a CFA designation. For H-1B and E-3 eligibility, your degree must correspond directly to the duties of the specific role, not just a general business background.
How do visa processing timelines affect starting an Investment Banking role at Fitch Ratings?
Timeline varies by visa type. E-3 and TN petitions can be processed at a U.S. consulate within a few weeks of receiving your employer documents. Standard H-1B adjudication at USCIS takes three to five months, though premium processing reduces that to around 15 business days. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship for EB-2 or EB-3 typically runs one to two years or longer depending on your country of birth.
