Align your credentials to Deloitte's practice areas
Deloitte's Functional Consultant roles sit across SAP, Oracle, Workday, and Salesforce practices. Match your certification portfolio to the specific platform before applying, because practice leads hire by technical stack, not general consulting experience.
Target Deloitte's federal consulting arm strategically
Deloitte Federal has a strong track record of sponsoring Functional Consultants through E-3 and H-1B1 visa pathways. These roles often have clearance-adjacent requirements, so surface any public-sector project experience in your application materials early.
Clarify visa type eligibility before the offer stage
Deloitte sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, and E-3 visas for Functional Consultants depending on your nationality. Raise your visa status directly with the recruiter after a verbal offer so the right petitioning process starts before the written offer is finalized.
Understand how client-site work affects your H-1B petition
Functional Consultants at Deloitte are frequently placed at client sites. USCIS scrutinizes third-party placement petitions heavily, so your offer letter should specify your work location clearly and your attorney should include an itinerary or SOW to support the filing.
Find open Functional Consultant roles using Migrate Mate
Search Deloitte's verified sponsoring roles filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate before applying directly. This narrows your target to roles where sponsorship is confirmed, saving you from applying to positions the firm isn't currently sponsoring.
Position yourself for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship from day one
Deloitte initiates PERM-based Green Card sponsorship for Functional Consultants after a sustained performance period, typically starting within a few years. Ask during final-round interviews how the firm handles green card timelines for your practice area.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Deloitte sponsor H-1B visas for Functional Consultants?
Yes, Deloitte sponsors H-1B visas for Functional Consultants across its technology, commercial, and federal practices. Functional Consultant roles typically qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards because they require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as information systems, computer science, or business. Sponsorship is initiated by the practice hiring you, so confirm with your recruiter which practice your role falls under.
How do I apply for Functional Consultant jobs at Deloitte?
Apply directly through Deloitte's careers portal or browse verified sponsoring roles on Migrate Mate, which filters Deloitte openings by visa type. Functional Consultant roles at Deloitte typically require a platform certification or hands-on implementation experience with SAP, Oracle, Workday, or Salesforce. Tailor your resume to the specific practice area, as each business unit runs its own hiring process with distinct technical expectations.
Which visa types does Deloitte commonly sponsor for Functional Consultants?
Deloitte sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, and E-3 visas for Functional Consultants, with the right visa type depending on your nationality. Australian citizens are eligible for the E-3, which has no lottery and faster processing. Chilean and Singaporean citizens can use the H-1B1. All other nationalities typically go through the H-1B cap lottery. For longer-term permanent residency, Deloitte also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Deloitte expect for Functional Consultant roles?
Deloitte expects a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as computer science, information systems, or business administration, combined with hands-on implementation experience on at least one major ERP or CRM platform. Platform certifications from SAP, Oracle, Workday, or Salesforce carry significant weight in the screening process. For senior roles, Deloitte also looks for client-facing project delivery experience and the ability to lead workstreams independently.
How do I handle visa timing when starting a Functional Consultant role at Deloitte?
If you're on an H-1B, Deloitte can file a transfer petition with a start date tied to your current status, and you can begin work once USCIS receives the petition. If you need cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, the earliest you can start is October 1 following an April lottery selection, so align your offer timeline accordingly. E-3 and H-1B1 visa candidates can often start faster through consular processing, sometimes within four to six weeks of a completed application.
