Align your portfolio to cloud-native architecture
Datadog's Architect roles center on observability platforms, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure at scale. Before applying, document specific projects involving Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, or GCP to demonstrate you can operate in their environment from day one.
Target roles that map to your visa category
Datadog sponsors multiple visa types including H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT. If you're on OPT with limited runway, prioritize Architect openings that list specialty occupation requirements clearly, since those directly support a strong H-1B petition narrative through USCIS.
Surface your sponsorship status early in conversations
Datadog's recruiting process moves quickly for senior technical roles. Raising your visa situation before the technical interview stage prevents late-stage friction and lets the recruiting team loop in their immigration team to assess timeline alignment with your current status.
Prepare for the specialty occupation standard
USCIS requires H-1B petitions to demonstrate the role requires a specific bachelor's degree or higher. For Architect positions, connect your degree field directly to systems design, software engineering, or computer science to strengthen the specialty occupation argument in your petition.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Architect openings by visa type
Datadog posts Architect roles across multiple teams and locations, and not every opening is equally accessible to sponsored candidates. Use Migrate Mate to filter current Datadog Architect jobs by the visa types they support so you focus your application effort where sponsorship is confirmed.
Sync your offer timeline with H-1B cap deadlines
If you need a new H-1B, USCIS lottery registration opens in March for an October 1 start date. Work backward from that window when negotiating your Datadog start date, and confirm whether the role qualifies for cap-exempt filing through any affiliated research or nonprofit entity.

Find Architect at Datadog JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Datadog sponsor H-1B visas for Architects?
Yes, Datadog sponsors H-1B visas for Architect roles. Architect positions at Datadog typically qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards because they require a specific technical degree and involve complex systems design work. If you're subject to the H-1B cap, confirm your target role and timeline with the recruiting team early, since cap-subject petitions must be filed well in advance of your intended start date.
Which visa types does Datadog commonly use for Architect roles?
Datadog sponsors a range of visa categories for Architect positions, including H-1B, H-1B1 for eligible nationals, TN for Canadian and Mexican citizens, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, and employment-based Green Card pathways such as EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-term sponsorship. The right visa depends on your citizenship, degree, and how long you've been in the U.S., so clarify your situation with the recruiter before the offer stage.
What qualifications does Datadog expect for Architect positions?
Datadog's Architect roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related technical field. Beyond credentials, the company looks for hands-on experience with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and observability tooling. Senior Architect roles often expect a track record of leading platform or infrastructure initiatives across large engineering organizations, not just individual contributor work.
How do I apply for Architect jobs at Datadog?
You can browse and apply for Architect roles at Datadog through their careers page or through Migrate Mate, which lets you filter Datadog's open positions by visa sponsorship type so you can focus on roles where your immigration status is supported. When applying, tailor your resume to highlight systems design, cloud architecture, and any observability or monitoring platform experience, since those map directly to Datadog's core product area.
How do I time my Datadog Architect job search around visa deadlines?
If you need H-1B sponsorship, begin your job search at least six months before the March USCIS registration window so you have time to interview, receive an offer, and complete the petition process. For F-1 OPT candidates, confirm your OPT end date and factor in the 60-day grace period when negotiating a start date. Datadog's immigration team can advise on whether premium processing makes sense for your situation once an offer is extended.
