- Champion the full development cycle: from rapid prototyping and defining success metrics/evaluations to running experiments, iterating, and achieving production-ready scale and reliability.
- Drive product direction with a strong user focus, always advocating for the best end-user experience.
- Coordinate with other leaders and product teams interested in leveraging Notebooks in their AI-powered workflows.
- Develop robust agent systems, including tools, retrieval and planning strategies, guardrails, prompt management/evaluations, fallbacks, and human-in-the-loop processes.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, guiding the adoption of new technologies and evolving best-practices.
Who You Are:
- You have a BS/MS/PhD in a scientific field or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, as well as experience acting as a technical lead
- Proven track record of leading large-scale AI/ML initiatives in a product-driven environment
- You have significant experience in model deployment, development, training, fine-tuning, and evaluation
- You are passionate about mentoring others and cultivating a high-performing engineering culture.
- You’re excited about leveraging AI tools to enhance how you code, solve problems, and build

Align your portfolio to Datadog's AI roadmap
Datadog's AI Product Engineering work centers on LLM observability, agentic monitoring, and AI-native alerting. Frame your projects around these domains, not generic ML. Interviewers respond to candidates who know where the product is headed.
Verify your degree maps to specialty occupation
USCIS requires your degree field to directly relate to the role for H-1B specialty occupation approval. For AI Product Engineer roles, a degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely adjacent field strengthens your petition considerably compared to a general business or unrelated STEM degree.
Target teams actively building AI features
Datadog's Bits AI, LLM Observability, and AI Integrations teams are actively hiring for this function. Referencing specific product areas in your cover letter and recruiter outreach signals genuine product knowledge and increases your chances of landing a sponsored role.
Understand which visa fits your nationality
Datadog sponsors multiple visa types, including H-1B, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, TN for Canadians and Mexicans, and F-1 OPT for recent graduates. Knowing which category applies to you before your offer conversation avoids delays and shows you're serious about the process.
Use Migrate Mate to track open AI Product Engineer roles
Datadog posts AI Product Engineer roles across multiple teams and regions. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Datadog positions that support visa sponsorship, so you're applying to openings where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than guessing from a generic job board.
Negotiate offer timing around H-1B cap deadlines
If you need cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, USCIS registration opens in March each year with an April 1 filing deadline. If you receive an offer in late spring, confirm with Datadog's immigration team whether cap-exempt filing or OPT extension can bridge you to the next cycle.

Does Datadog sponsor H-1B visas for AI Product Engineers?
Yes, Datadog sponsors H-1B visas for AI Product Engineers and has an active track record of doing so across its engineering organization. Sponsorship is handled through Datadog's internal immigration team in partnership with outside counsel. If you're in active interviews, it's worth asking the recruiter early in the process to confirm sponsorship eligibility for your specific visa category and role level.
How do I apply for AI Product Engineer jobs at Datadog?
Apply directly through Datadog's careers site, targeting teams like AI Integrations, LLM Observability, or Bits AI where this function is most active. Tailor your resume to reflect AI product development experience, including any work with LLMs, observability tooling, or developer-facing AI features. You can also browse open roles filtered by visa sponsorship status on Migrate Mate before applying.
Which visa types does Datadog commonly use for AI Product Engineer roles?
Datadog sponsors H-1B and H-1B1 visas for AI Product Engineers depending on your nationality, along with TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles. F-1 OPT and CPT are also supported for students and recent graduates. For longer-term pathways, Datadog has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions for engineers in this function, which typically begins after you've been with the company for some time.
What qualifications does Datadog expect for AI Product Engineer roles?
Datadog typically looks for engineers with a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, combined with hands-on experience building AI-powered or ML-integrated products. Familiarity with LLMs, API design, and cloud-native infrastructure is common across job postings. Prior experience with observability platforms, distributed systems, or developer tooling is a strong differentiator for this specific role at Datadog.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when joining Datadog as an AI Product Engineer?
Timeline depends on your visa type. H-1B sponsorship tied to the annual cap requires USCIS registration in March, with employment starting no earlier than October 1 of that year. TN status for Canadians can be obtained at the border in days. F-1 OPT allows you to start working within the 90-day reporting window after your program end date. Datadog's immigration team typically initiates the process shortly after your offer is accepted.
