The opportunity: AI coding agents now write code 100x faster than humans can review it, but new bottlenecks mean companies aren't shipping as fast as their agents can write code. We believe the major bottleneck is correctness, and it's shifting from human code review to continuous, production-grounded validation at every stage of software delivery.
Bits Release is an early-stage product that carries every change through the release lifecycle: it reviews the code, validates the change before merge, follows the rollout through staging and production, detects regressions, simulates and proposes fixes, and converts what it catches into permanent safeguards. It fuses Datadog's production signals coupled with newer capabilities like Bits Testing and Live Debugger in a single agentic harness, so companies can ship at the speed their agents write.
At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.
What you'll do:
- Own the vision, narrative, and roadmap for Bits Release end to end, from pre-merge to continuous production validation.
- Partner with customers, internal software engineers and design on a developer experience that earns developers' trust and gets out of the way once it's earned.
- Drive packaging and pricing to a decision (per-investigation consumption vs. continuous platform capability) with finance and product leadership.
- Treat agent quality as the product. Own the evals, reliability targets, and KPIs that prove Bits Release works, and keep proving it as it scales.
- Work with senior engineers who expect you to track the AI frontier, hold technical opinions, and stay close to customers.
- Partner with product marketing, advocacy, and sales to take Bits Release from preview to GA, with a story that lands for the SREs who buy it and the developers who use it.
Who you are:
- 6+ years of product management (or 4+ with a deep technical background), with meaningful time on developer tools, CI/CD, observability, or SRE/platform products.
- You've shipped an LLM or agentic product: you know what good evals look like, how to debug nondeterministic systems, and how to weigh cost, latency, and quality tradeoffs in production.
- You use AI coding agents daily and have strong opinions about what releasing software means two to three years from now.
- Deep SDLC fluency: PR workflows, CI systems, deployment strategies (canary, blue-green, feature flags, progressive rollout), and production signals (traces, logs, RUM, synthetics, error tracking).
- You're at your best when the problem is still ambiguous.
- You're an exceptional writer and speaker. We write, sharpen, and defend our narratives continuously, often to executive audiences.
Bonus points:
- Background as a software engineer, SRE, or platform engineer.
- Experience with sandboxed code execution, test generation, or replay systems.
- Exposure to a broader set of tooling and signals like product analytics, session replays, APM or RUM.
Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you're passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.

Frame your product experience around observability
Datadog prioritizes product leaders with depth in developer tooling, cloud infrastructure, or monitoring platforms. Reframe your experience using terms like telemetry, incident response, and SaaS instrumentation before you apply.
Target roles aligned with your visa category
Datadog sponsors multiple visa types, but not every open role maps cleanly to each pathway. TN visa holders should target roles with a clear engineering or business management classification, since USMCA requires a recognized professional category.
Research Datadog's sponsorship history on Migrate Mate
Filter by role type and visa category on Migrate Mate to see which Product Lead positions at Datadog have active sponsorship. That lets you prioritize applications where a clear sponsorship precedent already exists.
Secure a specialty occupation determination early
For H-1B sponsorship, USCIS requires the Product Lead role to qualify as a specialty occupation. Confirm with Datadog's recruiter that the job description specifies a degree requirement in a directly related field, not just a general preference.
Time your application around F-1 OPT expiration
If you're on F-1 OPT, align your Datadog offer timeline with your OPT end date. STEM OPT provides up to 24 months of extension, giving you a broader window to clear the H-1B lottery before your work authorization lapses.
Prepare a PERM-ready resume for long-term pathways
Datadog sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for product roles. The DOL PERM process requires your resume to demonstrate that your qualifications meet the minimum requirements of the role, not exceed them, so document your credentials precisely.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Datadog sponsor H-1B visas for Product Leads?
Yes, Datadog sponsors H-1B visas for Product Lead positions. The role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, meaning the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field directly related to the work. Datadog's product roles in observability and enterprise SaaS typically satisfy that threshold, particularly when the job description ties the degree requirement to software, computer science, or a related technical discipline.
Which visa types does Datadog commonly use for Product Lead roles?
Datadog sponsors H-1B and H-1B1 visas for Product Leads, along with TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. The company also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for candidates still in or recently graduated from U.S. degree programs. For longer-term pathways, Datadog has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for product talent, making it a viable option if you're thinking beyond initial work authorization.
How do I apply for Product Lead jobs at Datadog?
Apply directly through Datadog's careers site, where Product Lead roles are listed by team and product area. Before applying, browse open roles filtered by visa sponsorship availability on Migrate Mate to identify which positions explicitly support your visa category. Tailor your application to Datadog's product language, specifically cloud monitoring, APM, and developer experience, since their hiring panels assess product sense within that technical context.
What qualifications does Datadog expect for Product Lead roles?
Datadog typically looks for product leaders with experience shipping B2B SaaS products at scale, ideally within developer tools, infrastructure, or data platforms. A technical undergraduate degree in computer science or engineering strengthens both your candidacy and your H-1B specialty occupation eligibility. Cross-functional leadership experience, particularly working with distributed engineering teams, is weighted heavily given Datadog's engineering-led culture.
How do I navigate the sponsorship timeline once I have a Datadog offer?
Once you receive an offer, Datadog's immigration team typically coordinates with outside counsel to begin the Labor Condition Application filing with DOL before any H-1B petition is submitted to USCIS. Standard H-1B processing runs three to five months, though premium processing can reduce that to roughly 15 business days. If you're on OPT, confirm your cap-gap coverage with your DSO so there's no gap between your OPT expiration and H-1B approval.
