We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We’re dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo, SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid’s network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Washington D.C., London and Amsterdam.
Plaid’s Account Verification team builds the foundation of trust for open finance. We help fintechs and financial institutions connect and verify bank accounts securely so that money can move safely and instantly. Account Verification is the entry point for all of Plaid’s payment-focused consumer experiences and is a critical building block for our customers. The team obsesses over creating seamless verification journeys that balance speed, reliability, and security, enabling consumers to confidently connect to the financial ecosystem.
As the Product Lead for Account Verification, you will own one of Plaid’s most critical product areas. You'll lead the evolution of our verification platform across Auth, Balance, and Identity Match, shaping how users connect their financial accounts with confidence. Partnering with engineering, design, and go-to-market, you will expand Plaid’s verification methods across open banking, ML, and traditional systems while ensuring Plaid remains the industry’s most trusted and flexible provider.
This role is ideal for a high-ownership builder who thrives in ambiguity and moves fast. You will set vision and strategy, drive execution across a cross-functional team, and define how Plaid leads in a rapidly evolving, AI-driven verification landscape. If you’re energized by building systems that power millions of financial connections and enjoy balancing customer empathy with bold product strategy, this is your opportunity to lead at scale.
Responsibilities
- Own the Account Verification strategy and roadmap, from long-term vision to near-term priorities, grounded in customer and business outcomes.
- Reimagine the Auth experience to unlock new use cases (recurring payments, e-commerce, account funding) through modern, flexible verification flows.
- Expand verification capabilities across a growing set of methodologies: open banking, database auth, microdeposits, and beyond.
- Drive self-serve, experimentation, and orchestration tools that empower developers and operators to configure and optimize verification paths without code.
- Partner across Plaid to create cohesive experiences across account setup, risk management, and money movement.
- Represent Plaid internally and externally as a product thought leader, shaping how customers, partners, and the industry view account verification.
- Operate like an owner. Move quickly, make bold decisions, and bring creative energy to scaling one of Plaid’s most essential products.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of experience, including 5+ in product management or equivalent founder/operator roles.
- Proven success building and scaling B2B or infrastructure products, ideally in fintech or payments.
- Strong mix of strategic vision and executional drive; able to see the big picture while sweating the details.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and business audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguous, high-growth environments and lead with conviction.
- Track record of cross-functional impact, influencing design, engineering, and GTM teams to deliver results.
- Hands-on comfort with data and AI tools for writing, analysis, prototyping, and experimentation.
Our mission at Plaid is to unlock financial freedom for everyone. To support that mission, we seek to build a diverse team of driven individuals who care deeply about making the financial ecosystem more equitable. We recognize that strong qualifications can come from both prior work experiences and lived experiences. We encourage you to apply to a role even if your experience doesn't fully match the job description. We are always looking for team members that will bring something unique to Plaid!

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Product Lead Jobs at Plaid Jobs
Frame your fintech domain expertise early
Plaid's Product Lead roles sit at the intersection of developer tooling, financial APIs, and compliance. Tailor your resume to show experience with regulated data products or payment infrastructure before you apply, not after you get a call.
Confirm your visa category fits the role
Product Lead positions at Plaid typically require demonstrating that your role qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. If you're on F-1 OPT, verify your SOC code aligns with product management before your employer files, since a mismatch can trigger an RFE.
Target Plaid's enterprise and growth product teams
Plaid organizes product work around verticals like identity, payments, and lending. Roles on these teams appear more frequently in sponsorship filings, so filtering open positions by those product areas increases your odds of landing a role with a clear sponsorship pathway.
Initiate the H-1B conversation before your OPT expires
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed once per fiscal year. If your OPT runs out before the next October 1 start date, you'll need a bridge strategy. Raise this timeline explicitly in recruiter conversations so Plaid's immigration counsel can plan accordingly.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active Product Lead openings
Sponsorship-eligible roles at fintech companies fill quickly and aren't always labeled clearly on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter Product Lead positions at Plaid by visa type so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed.
Understand the PERM process if you're targeting a Green Card
Plaid has supported EB-2 and EB-3 pathways for Product Leads, but PERM labor certification requires your employer to run a market test through DOL before filing. That process takes months, so start the conversation with your hiring manager before you clear probation.

Does Plaid sponsor H-1B visas for Product Leads?
Yes, Plaid sponsors H-1B visas for Product Lead roles. The company works with immigration counsel to file cap-subject petitions each spring for the October 1 start date, and supports cap-exempt transfers for candidates already holding H-1B status with another employer. If you're interviewing, ask the recruiter early whether the specific role is designated for sponsorship.
Which visa types does Plaid commonly use for Product Lead roles?
Plaid supports H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for students in active programs, and EB-2 or EB-3 for candidates pursuing permanent residence. Product Lead roles typically qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS definitions, which makes them eligible across all of these categories depending on your situation and country of citizenship.
What qualifications does Plaid look for in a sponsored Product Lead?
Plaid's Product Lead roles generally require experience owning a product with a developer or financial services user base, cross-functional leadership, and comfort working with technical teams on API-driven products. For visa sponsorship purposes, your degree field needs to align with the role's specialty occupation classification. A background in computer science, engineering, or a quantitative business discipline tends to strengthen the USCIS petition.
How do I apply for Product Lead jobs at Plaid?
You can browse and apply for Product Lead positions at Plaid directly through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship eligibility so you're not wasting time on positions that won't support your work authorization. Once you identify a role, apply through Plaid's careers portal and flag your visa status early in the recruiter screen so the team can loop in immigration counsel before an offer is extended.
How do I manage the timeline between an offer and my visa filing at Plaid?
If you're on F-1 OPT, your employer needs to file an H-1B petition during the April registration window for an October 1 start. That means an offer ideally comes through before March. If you're already in H-1B status at another employer, Plaid can file a transfer petition and you can start work once USCIS receives it, without waiting for approval.
