INTRODUCTION
We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We’re dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo, SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid’s network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Washington D.C., London and Amsterdam.
Plaid’s GTM Partnerships team unlocks “one to many” customer relationships with technology platforms to allow more end customers and consumers to benefit from Plaid’s solutions. Channel Sales Development managers are aligned with specific revenue segments, in this case supporting our banking and wealth partners. Plaid is looking for a Channel Business Development & Enablement Manager to help power growth through our partner ecosystem. In this role, you'll sit at the intersection of sales, marketing, and partnerships — working closely with partner GTM teams to drive pipeline, equip them with the tools and content they need to win, and ensure Plaid is the go-to choice for every relevant opportunity in a partner's book of business. You'll work in close partnership with senior members of the Partnerships and Sales teams, taking ownership of key workstreams while developing the skills to grow into a broader strategic partnerships sales or account management role over time.
Responsibilities
- Sales Enablement. Equip partner GTM teams with the training, content, and tools they need to effectively pitch and sell Plaid — including onboarding, ongoing education, and a library of sales assets like pitch decks and battle cards
- Pipeline Development. Collaborate with partner sales teams to drive pipeline growth through targeted campaigns, outbound strategies, and co-selling support, while maintaining visibility into partner-sourced and influenced opportunities
- Channel Management. Serve as the connective tissue between Plaid and its partner ecosystem — minimizing channel conflict, facilitating communication, and ensuring deal velocity is maintained across all partner relationships
- Strategic Insights & Feedback. Act as the voice of the partner internally, surfacing patterns in objections, competitive dynamics, and product gaps to key stakeholders across Product, Marketing, and GTM teams
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 4 years of experience in inside sales, SDR/BDR, partnerships, sales enablement, or a related GTM role — fintech or financial services experience is a plus
- Early track record of contributing to pipeline or revenue in a team-oriented sales environment
- Strong written communication skills with an ability to translate product and technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives for sales audiences
- Organized and detail-oriented — comfortable managing multiple workstreams, maintaining CRM hygiene, and producing accurate pipeline reports
- Comfortable facilitating training sessions or enablement presentations in front of partner teams
- Collaborative and eager to learn — comfortable supporting senior teammates while also taking ownership of defined work independently
- Familiarity with the open banking, financial data, or payments ecosystem is a plus, but not required
- Working knowledge of APIs or a curiosity to understand how Plaid works under the hood
COMPENSATION
- Salary Range: $153,600 - $182,400 a year
The on-target earnings (OTE) for this position ranges from $153,600/year to $182,400/year in New York. The OTE range listed for this full-time position includes commission, but excludes equity and benefits. Frame your BD background in fintech terms
Plaid hires BD professionals who can speak credibly to financial institutions and developers. Reframe your experience around API partnerships, platform integrations, or financial data ecosystems before you apply. Generic sales backgrounds won't stand out.
Target roles requiring technical partnership experience
Plaid's BD team works closely with engineering and product. Job postings that mention developer relations, embedded finance, or technical integrations signal the highest fit for international candidates, since these specialized requirements strengthen the case for H-1B specialty occupation classification.
Verify your OPT or CPT timeline before applying
If you're on F-1 OPT, check your employment authorization end date against Plaid's typical hiring cycle. BD roles at growth-stage fintechs often have multi-round interview processes that can run six to eight weeks, which can cut into a short OPT runway.
Understand how PERM affects BD hiring timelines
Plaid sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, but PERM labor certification requires DOL to confirm no qualified U.S. workers were displaced. For BD roles, your application materials should document specialized fintech or platform partnership experience that distinguishes you from a general sales candidate.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsoring BD roles
Not all BD job postings at tech companies explicitly mention visa sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter Plaid's open Business Development positions by visa type, so you're only spending time on roles where sponsorship is confirmed rather than guessing from the job description.
Negotiate your start date around H-1B cap timelines
If you need a new H-1B and aren't currently in status, the cap-subject lottery only opens once per year with an October 1 start date. Raise this with your Plaid recruiter early so both sides can plan around USCIS filing windows without the offer falling through.

Find Business Development at Plaid JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Plaid sponsor H-1B visas for Business Developments?
Yes, Plaid sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development roles. BD positions at Plaid typically qualify as specialty occupations given the technical and financial expertise required, which supports the H-1B classification. If you're currently on an employer-sponsored H-1B, Plaid can file an H-1B transfer, allowing you to start work once USCIS receives the petition.
How do I apply for Business Development jobs at Plaid?
You can browse and apply for Plaid's open Business Development positions directly through their careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters Plaid's roles by visa sponsorship eligibility. Tailor your application to highlight fintech, API partnership, or financial data experience. Plaid's BD hiring process typically includes recruiter screens, case-style exercises, and cross-functional interviews.
Which visa types does Plaid commonly sponsor for Business Development roles?
Plaid sponsors H-1B, TN (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), and F-1 OPT and CPT for Business Development positions. For longer-term paths, Plaid also sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards. TN visas can be a faster alternative to the H-1B if your nationality and job duties align with the USMCA occupation categories, such as economist or management consultant.
What qualifications does Plaid look for in Business Development candidates?
Plaid's BD roles generally require experience in enterprise partnerships, platform sales, or developer-focused go-to-market work within fintech or adjacent technology sectors. A bachelor's degree in business, economics, or a technical field is standard. Candidates who understand financial data infrastructure, open banking, or API-driven product ecosystems tend to move further in the process than those with general sales backgrounds.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Plaid BD role?
For H-1B transfers from another employer, USCIS portability rules let you begin work once the petition is received, typically within weeks. New cap-subject H-1B filings follow an annual cycle with an October 1 start date, so timing your offer and lottery registration matters. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship through DOL can take one to two years depending on your priority date and country of birth.
