INTRODUCTION
As a Senior Product Manager on the Code Security team, you will define and own the roadmap for Code Security's core application vulnerability management products (application security testing and software composition analysis). This is a strategic and technical role focused on identifying gaps in customers' vulnerability management workflows and translating those insights into high-impact product capabilities. You'll work cross-functionally with engineering, security research, design, and go-to-market teams to launch innovative solutions that help customers stay ahead of evolving threats. This role offers a unique opportunity to grow your expertise in both application security and AI, while shaping one of Datadog's fastest-growing product areas.
At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds, and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.
What You'll Do:
- Own the product roadmap for Datadog's core Code Security products for application code and library vulnerability scanning
- Conduct deep customer discovery with security and engineering teams to uncover critical gaps in vulnerability management, supply chain protection, and AI-assisted coding workflows
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, security research, and go-to-market teams to drive alignment and execute on roadmap priorities
- Launch new capabilities from 0 to 1, helping to establish and grow the Code Security portfolio's presence in the market
- Translate complex technical challenges into clear product strategies that address customer needs and market opportunities
Who You Are:
- Extensive experience as a Product Manager owning the roadmap and execution for technical products, ideally in developer tools, security, or infrastructure
- You enjoy engaging directly with customers, leading discovery calls, participating in sales conversations, and building relationships to understand user needs
- You have a solid technical understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including how security integrates into modern developer workflows
- You are familiar with AI coding tools or agentic development workflows and are comfortable working at the intersection of AI and security
- You thrive in cross-functional environments and enjoy turning ambiguous problems into tangible product outcomes
- You have experience taking new features or products from 0 to 1, making thoughtful tradeoffs about what to build (and what not to build) in fast paced environments
- You communicate clearly and persuasively with both internal and external stakeholders
Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you're passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.
Benefits and Growth:
- New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)
- Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing

- Access to Inclusion Talks, our Internal panel discussions
- Free, global mental health benefits for employees and dependents age 6+
- Competitive global benefits

Frame your leadership credentials for U.S. standards
Datadog's hiring process for Development Managers weighs people management scope heavily. Translate your team size, delivery ownership, and cross-functional influence into U.S.-style resume language before you apply, since Australian or European formats often undersell these dimensions.
Target Datadog's engineering org by product area
Datadog hires Development Managers across distinct product lines, from infrastructure monitoring to APM and security. Applying to roles aligned with your domain background, rather than any open position, significantly improves your odds of clearing the initial recruiter screen.
Clarify your visa type before the offer stage
Datadog sponsors multiple visa categories for engineering managers. Confirm which classification applies to your situation, whether H-1B, TN, or F-1 OPT extension, before negotiations begin so the offer letter reflects the correct sponsorship pathway from day one.
Understand the H-1B cap timing relative to your start date
If you need a new H-1B, USCIS opens registration in March for an October 1 start. Development Manager roles often have a defined ramp-up window, so misaligning your offer timing with the cap cycle can delay your start by up to a year.
Prepare for a specialty occupation review of your role
Development Manager is a supervisory title, and USCIS scrutinizes whether it meets the specialty occupation standard under H-1B rules. Work with Datadog's immigration counsel to document the technical degree requirements tied to your specific role scope, not just the management responsibilities.
Use Migrate Mate to find open roles that confirm sponsorship
Not every Datadog job posting specifies visa sponsorship availability for a given role. Use Migrate Mate to filter Development Manager openings at Datadog by sponsorship type so you apply only where your visa category is confirmed, saving time on outreach that won't convert.

Find Development Manager at Datadog JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Datadog sponsor H-1B visas for Development Managers?
Yes, Datadog sponsors H-1B visas for Development Manager positions. Because the role carries a supervisory title, Datadog's immigration team typically works to document the position's technical degree requirements to satisfy USCIS specialty occupation criteria. If you're subject to the H-1B cap, timing your application around the annual March registration window is critical to avoid a gap in work authorization.
Which visa types does Datadog commonly use for Development Manager roles?
Datadog sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, TN, and F-1 OPT for engineering management roles, and supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for longer-term sponsorship. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. F-1 OPT is relevant if you're transitioning directly from a U.S. university program into an engineering leadership track.
What qualifications does Datadog expect for Development Manager roles?
Datadog generally looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field, combined with direct experience managing software engineering teams. Familiarity with observability, cloud infrastructure, or distributed systems is a practical differentiator. Candidates who can demonstrate delivery ownership across full engineering cycles, not just people management, tend to progress further in the process.
How do I apply for Development Manager jobs at Datadog?
You can apply through Datadog's careers page or use Migrate Mate to browse Development Manager openings filtered by visa sponsorship type, so you can confirm your category is supported before applying. Tailoring your application to a specific product area within Datadog's engineering org, such as infrastructure, APM, or security, produces better results than a broad approach across all open roles.
How do I time my job search at Datadog around visa processing?
If you're on F-1 OPT, start your search early enough to allow time for H-1B registration before your OPT expires. Datadog's hiring process for Development Managers typically includes multiple interview rounds, which can take four to eight weeks. Building that timeline into your job search, alongside USCIS processing windows, helps you avoid a gap between your current authorization and a new status taking effect.
