Frame your portfolio around shipped AI products
Google's hiring bar for AI PMs centers on demonstrated product ownership, not just familiarity with machine learning concepts. Document specific AI features you've launched, the metrics they moved, and the technical tradeoffs you navigated with engineering teams.
Target teams where AI is the core product
Roles on Google DeepMind, Google Search, or Gemini product teams carry stronger sponsorship intent than support or ops-adjacent PM roles. Focusing your applications on product areas where AI is the primary output, not a feature layer, positions you for roles with established sponsorship pipelines.
Align your start date with H-1B cap timelines
If you need an H-1B, USCIS opens registration in March for an October 1 start. Google's recruiting cycles often produce offers in Q1, so coordinate with your recruiter so your offer letter and I-129 filing align with the cap filing window rather than requiring a gap period.
Verify your degree field maps to the role definition
Google's AI PM job descriptions typically require a degree in computer science, engineering, or a closely related field. Before applying, confirm that your credential aligns with the specialty occupation definition DOL uses for LCA certification, since a mismatch can delay or complicate your petition.
Browse open roles using Migrate Mate to filter by sponsorship
Searching broadly across job boards surfaces AI PM roles that don't actually sponsor. Use Migrate Mate to filter Google's open AI Product Manager positions specifically by the visa types you need, so you're applying only where sponsorship is already confirmed.

Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for AI Product Managers?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for AI Product Manager roles. The company has an established immigration infrastructure and works with external counsel to file I-129 petitions for qualifying hires. Because H-1B is subject to the annual cap and lottery, your offer timing relative to the March registration window will affect when you can start.
Which visa types does Google use for AI Product Manager roles?
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for this role. H-1B applies to most nationalities and is subject to the annual lottery. H-1B1 is available to Chilean and Singaporean nationals, and E-3 is available to Australian citizens. If you're eligible for E-3, it's worth raising with your recruiter early since it bypasses the lottery entirely and has a faster path to a start date.
What qualifications does Google expect for AI Product Manager roles?
Google's AI PM roles typically require a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a directly related technical field, plus hands-on experience shipping products that involve machine learning or AI systems. Candidates who can demonstrate they've worked closely with research and engineering teams on production AI, not just roadmap planning, stand out in the hiring process.
How do I apply for AI Product Manager jobs at Google?
You can browse currently open AI Product Manager positions at Google filtered by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which shows only roles where sponsorship is confirmed for your visa category. When you apply, tailor your resume to reflect AI product ownership and technical depth, since Google's PM interviews assess both product sense and your ability to work with complex model-based systems.
How do I plan my timeline for starting an AI Product Manager role at Google on a visa?
Timeline depends on your visa type. E-3 and H-1B1 can move from offer to approval in four to eight weeks with consular processing. H-1B requires fitting into the annual cap cycle: USCIS opens registration in March, selects petitions by lottery, and the earliest cap-subject start date is October 1. If you receive an offer in Q1, plan for a six-month gap unless you're already H-1B-eligible or cap-exempt.
