Align your credentials to WSP's markets
WSP's Business Development roles sit at the intersection of technical consulting and client strategy. Tailor your resume to reflect experience in infrastructure, environmental services, or advisory sectors so hiring managers can immediately map your background to their project pipelines.
Target WSP's sector-specific business units
WSP organizes hiring around practice areas like transportation, energy, and federal advisory. Applying directly to roles within a unit that matches your domain gives your candidacy more context and makes the sponsorship case cleaner for their internal approvals process.
Confirm sponsorship eligibility before final interviews
WSP sponsors multiple visa categories for this function, including H-1B and E-3. Before advancing to offer stage, clarify which visa type applies to your situation so their HR and immigration teams can begin LCA preparation with the DOL without delay.
Use OPT strategically to build a WSP track record
If you're on F-1 OPT, starting at WSP in a Business Development capacity lets you demonstrate client-facing impact before H-1B cap season. A strong performance record significantly strengthens an employer's case for sponsoring you through the lottery.
Prepare for PERM-related documentation early
For Green Card pathways like EB-2 or EB-3, WSP's legal team will need detailed records of your qualifications and job duties. Organize your degree certificates, transcripts, and employment history before the offer stage so PERM advertising timelines don't stall.
Browse open WSP roles through Migrate Mate
WSP posts Business Development Manager openings across multiple offices and practice areas. Use Migrate Mate to filter live WSP roles by visa sponsorship type so you're only applying to positions actively open to sponsored candidates in your category.

Find Business Development Manager at WSP JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does WSP sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Managers?
Yes, WSP sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development Managers. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation given the combination of technical consulting knowledge and strategic client management it requires. If you're already on H-1B with another employer, WSP can file an H-1B transfer, which lets you start work as soon as USCIS receives the petition.
How do I apply for Business Development Manager jobs at WSP?
Applications go through WSP's careers portal, where roles are listed by practice area and location. Search for Business Development Manager openings in the sectors you have experience in, such as transportation, environment, or federal advisory. You can also use Migrate Mate to browse WSP's open roles filtered by visa sponsorship type, which saves time if you need a specific visa category.
Which visa types does WSP commonly use for Business Development Manager roles?
WSP sponsors a range of visa categories for this function, including H-1B, E-3 for Australian nationals, TN for Canadian and Mexican professionals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates. For candidates seeking permanent residence, WSP supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, which are typically pursued after an initial period of employment.
What qualifications and experience does WSP expect for a Business Development Manager?
WSP generally looks for candidates with a background in engineering, environmental science, planning, or a related technical discipline combined with demonstrated client development experience. Familiarity with public sector procurement, infrastructure project cycles, or professional services sales is valued. Advanced degrees can strengthen both your candidacy and, where relevant, eligibility for EB-2 sponsorship if you pursue a Green Card later.
How do I time my application around H-1B cap season as a Business Development Manager candidate?
H-1B cap registrations open in March for an October 1 start date. If you're targeting WSP and need H-1B sponsorship, aim to receive an offer by February so their immigration counsel can prepare the registration in time. Candidates currently on F-1 OPT with remaining authorization can start work while the petition is pending, provided WSP files before OPT expires.
