Align your credentials to Walker's disciplines
Walker Consultants specializes in parking, structural, and civil engineering consulting. Before applying, make sure your resume and portfolio reflect project experience in these areas, since credential alignment directly affects whether your petition clears specialty occupation review at USCIS.
Research Walker's active Consultant openings strategically
Walker posts Consultant roles across multiple office locations. Use Migrate Mate to filter open positions by visa type so you're targeting roles where sponsorship is already part of the hiring plan, not negotiating it from scratch.
Clarify sponsorship intent before your final interview
Consulting firms sometimes distinguish between roles budgeted for sponsorship and those that aren't. Ask directly during the offer stage which visa pathway the team has in mind for your position, whether H-1B, TN, or an immigrant petition.
Prepare your degree equivalency documentation early
For H-1B specialty occupation petitions, USCIS scrutinizes whether your degree field directly relates to the consulting role. If your bachelor's degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved agency before your offer letter arrives.
Understand the PERM timeline for immigrant visa paths
If Walker sponsors you for an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card, the PERM labor certification process through DOL typically runs six months to over a year before the I-140 petition is even filed. Factor this into your long-term planning if you're on OPT or a time-limited status.
Use OPT strategically while targeting a permanent role
If you're on F-1 OPT, Walker's willingness to sponsor OPT employees is a strong signal. Work with your DSO to confirm your OPT end date and build a realistic timeline so your H-1B cap-subject petition can be filed in the April registration window before your authorization lapses.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Walker Consultants sponsor H-1B visas for Consultants?
Yes, Walker Consultants sponsors H-1B visas for Consultant roles. Because Walker operates in specialized engineering and consulting disciplines, these positions generally meet USCIS specialty occupation criteria, which require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. If you're applying from outside the U.S. or transitioning from OPT, confirm sponsorship availability with the recruiter early in the process.
How do I apply for Consultant jobs at Walker Consultants?
You can browse and apply for Consultant openings at Walker Consultants through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can identify positions where sponsorship is confirmed. Applications typically require a resume, relevant project portfolio or work samples, and professional references. Walker's Consultant hiring spans multiple office locations, so filtering by geography alongside visa type helps you target the right openings.
Which visa types does Walker Consultants commonly use for Consultant roles?
Walker Consultants supports several visa pathways for Consultant positions, including H-1B, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles, F-1 OPT for recent graduates, and immigrant visa categories including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-term sponsorship. The right pathway depends on your nationality, degree field, and the specific Consultant role you're being considered for.
What qualifications does Walker Consultants expect for Consultant positions?
Walker Consultants typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree or higher in civil, structural, or transportation engineering, or a closely related discipline, since these align directly with their core service lines. Relevant project experience, licensure progress such as an EIT designation, and familiarity with infrastructure or parking consulting work all strengthen your candidacy. Foreign degree holders should prepare a credential evaluation in advance.
How do I time my application if I'm on OPT or approaching an H-1B cap deadline?
The H-1B cap registration window opens in early March each year for an October 1 start date. If your OPT or other status expires before October, confirm whether Walker will support cap-gap coverage or a cap-exempt filing route. Starting your application process at Walker by November or December of the prior year gives enough runway to clear hiring, offer, and USCIS registration steps before the deadline.
