Align Your Credentials to Jensen Hughes Disciplines
Jensen Hughes recruits Consultants with backgrounds in fire protection engineering, risk analysis, and safety consulting. Before applying, map your degree and project experience directly to one of these practice areas so your credentials clearly support a specialty occupation determination.
Target Offices With Active Project Pipelines
Jensen Hughes operates across dozens of U.S. offices, and hiring for Consultant roles often concentrates around offices tied to active infrastructure or government contracts. Research which locations post Consultant openings repeatedly, since consistent postings signal ongoing headcount needs rather than one-off backfills.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Consultant Openings
Sorting through Jensen Hughes job listings manually across multiple boards wastes time during a tight OPT or grace period window. Use Migrate Mate to surface Consultant roles at Jensen Hughes filtered specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, so every application you submit is to a confirmed sponsoring employer.
Confirm LCA Filing Before Accepting an Offer
Before your H-1B petition can be filed, Jensen Hughes must obtain a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL. Ask your recruiter or HR contact to confirm this step is already in motion after an offer is extended, since LCA certification typically takes seven business days and directly gates your start date.
Prepare a Specialty Occupation Evidence Package Early
USCIS scrutinizes Consultant petitions closely because the title can be broad. Gather documentation showing your role requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field, such as fire protection, mechanical, or chemical engineering, well before Jensen Hughes initiates your I-129 filing.
Time Your Application Around OPT Cap-Gap Protections
If you're on F-1 OPT and Jensen Hughes files your H-1B petition before the April 1 deadline, cap-gap provisions let you keep working through September 30 even if your OPT expires first. Confirm your intended start date with HR early so the filing timeline doesn't leave a gap in your work authorization.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Jensen Hughes sponsor H-1B visas for Consultants?
Yes, Jensen Hughes sponsors H-1B visas for Consultant roles. The company operates as an established professional services firm with the infrastructure to support I-129 petitions, Labor Condition Applications through DOL, and multi-year renewals. Consultant positions at Jensen Hughes typically meet the specialty occupation threshold USCIS requires, particularly for engineering and technical advisory roles.
How do I apply for Consultant jobs at Jensen Hughes?
Applications go through Jensen Hughes's careers portal, where Consultant openings are listed by location and practice area. You can also browse confirmed sponsoring roles on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for visa-eligible positions. Tailor your resume to the technical discipline of the specific opening, whether fire protection, risk, or safety consulting, and address your work authorization status clearly in the application.
Which visa types does Jensen Hughes commonly use for Consultant roles?
Jensen Hughes sponsors H-1B visas as the primary long-term work authorization for Consultants. The company also accepts candidates on F-1 OPT and CPT for early-career Consultant roles, and TN status is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering or scientific disciplines. J-1 visa sponsorship is available in limited contexts, typically for exchange-based arrangements.
What qualifications does Jensen Hughes expect for Consultant positions?
Most Consultant roles at Jensen Hughes require a bachelor's degree in an engineering or applied science discipline, with fire protection engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field preferred for core practice areas. Relevant licensure such as an EIT or PE registration strengthens your profile considerably. Prior consulting or project-based experience in a technical field carries more weight than general business consulting backgrounds.
How do I manage the timeline between an offer and my visa filing at Jensen Hughes?
Once you receive an offer, Jensen Hughes typically initiates the LCA through DOL before filing your H-1B petition with USCIS. LCA certification runs roughly seven business days, after which the I-129 can be submitted. If you need a faster start date, ask HR about premium processing, which reduces USCIS adjudication to 15 business days for an additional government fee.
