How Your Role Will Shape Our Success
Walker is seeking a Senior Consultant who thrives at the intersection of client delivery, relationship-building, and business growth. This role is ideal for a strategic, entrepreneurial professional who enjoys managing complex projects and actively developing new work. As a Senior Consultant, you will independently lead high-impact projects, deepen relationships with existing clients, and bring in new opportunities through proactive business development. You’ll be trusted to represent Walker in developing new business, leading proposals, fee negotiations, and client conversations—and to consistently elevate the quality of our work and services. We’re looking for someone with a growth mindset, strong professional judgment with existing private sector consulting experience, and the ambition to expand both their own book of business and Walker’s market presence.
About Walker Consultants
Walker Consultants is a financially stable, 100% employee-owned professional services firm that serves public- and private-sector clients by providing industry-leading transportation, transit, mobility, and parking planning-related services. We help provide access to and maintain the built environment. Because our firm is diverse in our services, well-established, and sought after, we work on leading-edge projects that shape our communities. In addition to contributing to your area of subject matter, you have opportunities to learn and become involved in other areas of our practice. From small towns to large urban metros and regional agencies, we help our clients build communities where people want to live, work, and have fun. For every project, we develop creative strategies that put people first and are rooted in data aligned with overall goals for transportation, economic development, climate, and land use. We do the same for our private sector clients. We are focused on the future, and our plans and policies are shaped by technology, data, and infrastructure that maximize today’s investments for what’s next. As part of our West Region, you will be an integral part of growing the region while supporting our national group of experts and collaborating with planners, engineers, and urban designers across the country to serve our clients. Align your credentials with specialty occupation standards
H-1B eligibility for Senior Consultant roles hinges on demonstrating a direct link between your degree and the specific consulting discipline. Walker Consultants spans infrastructure and structural engineering, so make sure your academic background maps cleanly to your target practice area.
Research open roles across practice areas
Walker Consultants posts Senior Consultant openings across multiple technical disciplines simultaneously. Browse active listings by specialty to find the practice area where your experience fits strongest, rather than applying broadly and letting your application get filtered out early.
Prepare a project portfolio before interviews
Senior Consultant roles at Walker require demonstrating technical depth, not just years of experience. Bring documented examples of projects you led or contributed to significantly. Consulting firms evaluate judgment and client-facing competency alongside credentials during technical rounds.
Understand the PERM timeline if pursuing permanent residency
If Walker Consultants initiates EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, the DOL PERM process typically adds 12 to 18 months before an I-140 can be filed. For nationals from high-backlog countries, factor that into your longer-term planning well before accepting an offer.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsoring roles
Finding Senior Consultant openings at companies with a real sponsorship track record is the hardest part of the search. Use Migrate Mate to filter for Walker Consultants roles verified to sponsor your specific visa type, so you're not guessing from a generic job board.

Find Senior Consultant at Walker Consultants JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Walker Consultants sponsor H-1B visas for Senior Consultants?
Yes, Walker Consultants has an active history of H-1B sponsorship for Senior Consultant roles. These positions typically qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards given the technical engineering and consulting nature of the work. If you receive an offer, the company's HR and legal team will initiate the H-1B petition process, subject to the annual cap and lottery unless you qualify for a cap-exempt filing.
How do I apply for Senior Consultant jobs at Walker Consultants?
Applications go through Walker Consultants' careers portal, where Senior Consultant openings are listed by practice area and location. Tailor your resume to the specific technical discipline you're targeting. You can also find verified open roles through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm sponsorship availability before applying.
Which visa types does Walker Consultants sponsor for Senior Consultant roles?
Walker Consultants sponsors H-1B visas for specialty occupation hires, supports F-1 OPT extensions including STEM OPT where the role qualifies, and has filed under TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible consulting categories. For longer-term employees, the company has also pursued EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the DOL PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Walker Consultants expect for a Senior Consultant role?
Senior Consultant candidates typically need a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering or technical discipline, along with several years of project experience in the corresponding consulting practice. Walker Consultants operates across infrastructure, structural, and specialty engineering, so your background should reflect hands-on technical work rather than general business consulting. Professional licensure is often valued and sometimes required depending on the practice area.
How do I time my application around my visa status and authorization window?
If you're on F-1 OPT, apply at least three to four months before your authorization expires to allow time for an H-1B petition to be filed before your status lapses. TN holders can typically transition more quickly since TN status is employer-specific and can be obtained at the port of entry. For H-1B transfers, your current status stays valid while the petition is pending under portability rules, so a gap in employment is not required before starting.
