We are more than 34,000 people, in over 30 countries, dedicated to improving quality of life. Everyone has an important role to play. With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
Arcadis is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Construction Manager P2B to support one of the most iconic and consequential infrastructure initiatives in the United States — the Gateway Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP). In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing the construction work plans and regular reporting on compliance and environmental permitting requirements.
We are working as the Delivery Partner along with team members and selected by the Gateway Development Commission to deliver this transformative project. The HTP is a critical component of the broader Gateway Program — one of the most ambitious and impactful transportation initiatives in the nation — and is designed to strengthen mobility, enhance resiliency, and ensure the long-term reliability of the Northeast Corridor.
The project encompasses the construction of a new, two-track rail tunnel beneath the Hudson River, along with the full rehabilitation of the existing 113-year-old North River Tunnel. This vital infrastructure supports more than 200,000 daily passengers via Amtrak and NJ TRANSIT and serves as a backbone for economic activity and connectivity between New York and New Jersey.
This is more than just a job — it’s a once-in-a-generation opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant infrastructure program that will reshape rail transportation, drive sustainable economic growth, and improve regional accessibility for millions. As part of this high-performing, multidisciplinary team, you will help deliver excellence on one of the most technically complex and high-profile projects in the world.
If you're seeking to make a meaningful, lasting impact — while advancing your career alongside some of the best minds in the industry — this is your moment.

Align your credentials to U.S. licensing expectations
Arcadis project teams often require EIT registration or progress toward a PE license. Having your foreign engineering qualifications formally evaluated by a NACES-approved credential evaluator before you apply strengthens your specialty occupation case under H-1B requirements.
Target infrastructure and water division openings
Arcadis staffs Construction Engineers heavily across its water, environment, and transportation practices. Filtering your search to these divisions surfaces roles where international hiring is more established and internal sponsorship pathways are better defined.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active Arcadis openings
Arcadis posts Construction Engineer roles across multiple regions simultaneously, making it easy to miss relevant openings. Migrate Mate aggregates visa-sponsoring employers so you can browse current Arcadis listings filtered specifically to your visa type.
Clarify the LCA prevailing wage tier early
DOL's prevailing wage determination for Construction Engineers varies by metropolitan area and experience level. Asking your Arcadis recruiter which wage level they intend to file at helps you verify the offer aligns with DOL requirements before you reach the I-129 stage.
Request cap-exempt filing if transitioning from F-1 OPT
If Arcadis is a government contractor or project partner working with a qualifying nonprofit or university, a cap-exempt H-1B pathway may be available. Confirm the specific project assignment during offer negotiations, as it affects whether you need to wait for the April lottery.
Prepare project documentation before the interview stage
Arcadis technical interviews for Construction Engineer roles typically probe project delivery experience. Compiling your scope of work records, contract values you oversaw, and relevant site management examples in advance supports both your interview performance and later visa petition documentation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Arcadis sponsor H-1B visas for Construction Engineers?
Yes, Arcadis sponsors H-1B visas for Construction Engineers. The company has an established immigration support process and works with immigration counsel to file Labor Condition Applications with the DOL and H-1B petitions with USCIS. Sponsorship is typically tied to a specific role and project assignment, so confirming sponsorship intent with your recruiter early in the process is the practical first step.
How do I apply for Construction Engineer jobs at Arcadis?
Applications go through the Arcadis careers portal, where you can filter by discipline and location. You can also browse verified Construction Engineer openings at Arcadis that include visa sponsorship through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by sponsor type. Tailoring your application to the specific practice area, whether water, infrastructure, or environment, improves your chances of moving through initial screening.
Which visa types does Arcadis commonly use for Construction Engineer roles?
Arcadis sponsors a range of visa categories for Construction Engineers, including H-1B, H-1B1 visa for eligible Chilean and Singaporean nationals, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican engineers, F-1 OPT and CPT for students in qualifying programs, J-1 visa for exchange visitors, and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visas for permanent residence pathways. The right category depends on your nationality, education, and career stage.
What qualifications does Arcadis expect for Construction Engineer positions?
Arcadis generally looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in civil, structural, or construction engineering from an accredited institution. For H-1B sponsorship, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning the degree must be directly related to the position. Practical experience in project delivery, site supervision, or infrastructure design is typically expected, and EIT or PE credentials strengthen your candidacy, particularly for mid-to-senior roles.
How do I time my application around the H-1B cap and USCIS processing?
The H-1B lottery opens in March for an October 1 start date, so targeting Arcadis roles in the preceding months gives your employer time to register you. USCIS premium processing reduces the adjudication window to 15 business days if Arcadis elects to use it. If you're on F-1 OPT with a STEM extension, you may have up to 36 months of work authorization to bridge the gap across multiple lottery cycles.
