Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Electrical Engineer Jobs at Kiewit Jobs
Align your credentials to Kiewit's project scope
Kiewit focuses on high-voltage transmission, substation construction, and power plant projects. Tailoring your resume to reflect field experience in those areas, rather than purely design or consulting work, will position you for their most active hiring tracks.
Target roles tied to active energy contracts
Kiewit staffs Electrical Engineers against specific project awards. Searching by region where large-scale energy infrastructure projects are underway increases your odds of landing a role with immediate sponsorship need and start-date flexibility.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Kiewit roles by visa type
Search Kiewit's Electrical Engineer openings on Migrate Mate to filter by the visa categories the company sponsors, so you're only applying to positions where your immigration status is already a known fit.
Confirm LCA prevailing wage tier before negotiating
For H-1B sponsorship, Kiewit must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL certifying your wage meets the prevailing rate for your work location. Understanding which wage level applies to your experience helps you negotiate from an informed position.
Ask about TN eligibility if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship
Electrical Engineer is a qualifying occupation under TN status for Canadian and Mexican citizens. If you hold either citizenship, raising TN sponsorship early in the offer stage can shorten your timeline significantly compared to H-1B processing.
Factor project-based assignments into your I-94 planning
Kiewit deploys engineers across multiple jobsite locations. If your visa is approved for a specific worksite, amendments may be required when you transfer to a new project. Clarify with your HR contact how Kiewit handles LCA amendments for multi-site assignments.

Find Electrical Engineer at Kiewit JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Kiewit sponsor H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers?
Yes, Kiewit sponsors H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers. The company is a recognized sponsor across engineering disciplines in the energy sector, and Electrical Engineering is one of the functions where they have an active sponsorship pattern. You should confirm sponsorship availability for the specific role and location during the interview process, as project staffing needs vary by region.
How do I apply for Electrical Engineer jobs at Kiewit?
Applications go through Kiewit's careers portal at kiewit.com/careers. For visa-sponsored roles specifically, browsing through Migrate Mate lets you filter Kiewit's open Electrical Engineer positions by immigration status so you're targeting openings where sponsorship is a confirmed fit before you apply. Tailor your application to reflect relevant energy infrastructure or construction experience.
Which visa types does Kiewit commonly sponsor for Electrical Engineers?
Kiewit sponsors several visa categories for Electrical Engineers, including H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates. For longer-term pathways, the company also supports employment-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 and EB-3 classifications, which typically require PERM labor certification filed with the DOL before USCIS adjudicates the immigrant petition.
What qualifications and experience does Kiewit expect for Electrical Engineer roles?
Kiewit generally looks for a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and experience relevant to energy construction or infrastructure, such as substation design, power distribution, or high-voltage systems. Field exposure is often weighted heavily given the project-based nature of the work. Professional Engineer licensure or EIT status is valued, particularly for roles with client-facing or design-of-record responsibilities.
How long does the sponsorship and hiring process typically take at Kiewit?
Timeline depends on the visa type. F-1 OPT allows you to start immediately if your EAD is active. H-1B cap-subject petitions follow USCIS's annual lottery cycle, meaning you could wait up to a year if selected in April for an October 1 start. TN status for Canadian citizens can be obtained at the border with same-day approval. Clarifying your visa category early in the offer stage helps both sides align on realistic start dates.
