Align Your Credentials to CBRE's Project Scope
CBRE's Electrical Engineer roles span commercial build-outs, data centers, and facilities management. Before applying, document project experience that maps to those environments. A resume built around MEP systems and large-scale construction carries more weight than a general engineering CV.
Target Roles in CBRE's Engineering Services Division
CBRE staffs Electrical Engineers across multiple business lines, but its Engineering and Technical Services teams run the deepest bench. Focusing your applications there puts you in front of hiring managers who regularly work with sponsored candidates and understand the H-1B filing timeline.
Get a Professional Engineering License Before Applying
Many of CBRE's senior Electrical Engineer positions list a PE license as preferred or required. Holding one strengthens your specialty occupation argument for H-1B purposes and signals to USCIS that your role demands a specifically degreed professional, not a generalist.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Open CBRE Postings by Visa Type
CBRE posts Electrical Engineer openings across multiple platforms, but not every listing flags sponsorship eligibility. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for CBRE roles that accommodate your visa category, saving time you'd otherwise spend screening postings manually.
Request a Clear LCA Timeline Before Accepting an Offer
CBRE must file a Labor Condition Application with DOL before your H-1B petition reaches USCIS. That step alone can take one to three weeks. Ask your recruiter when the LCA process starts so your start date is realistic and you avoid status gaps if you're transferring from another employer.
Prepare Your Degree Equivalency Documentation Early
If your electrical engineering degree is from outside the United States, CBRE's immigration counsel will need a credential evaluation confirming it is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree. Commission that evaluation before you receive an offer so it's ready when the H-1B petition is being assembled.

Find Electrical Engineer at CBRE JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does CBRE sponsor H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers?
Yes, CBRE sponsors H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers. The company has a consistent track record of supporting sponsorship across its engineering functions, including roles tied to commercial real estate, facilities management, and large infrastructure projects. Electrical Engineering qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines, which is a core requirement for H-1B eligibility.
How do I apply for Electrical Engineer jobs at CBRE?
You can apply through CBRE's careers portal or browse open Electrical Engineer roles filtered by visa eligibility on Migrate Mate. When applying, tailor your resume to the specific business line, whether that's project management, technical services, or facilities engineering. Noting your visa status or authorization type in your application helps recruiters route you to the right hiring team.
Which visa types does CBRE commonly use for Electrical Engineer roles?
CBRE sponsors several visa categories for Electrical Engineers, including H-1B, H-1B1 for eligible nationals, TN for Canadian and Mexican engineers under USMCA, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, and J-1 for exchange-based positions. For permanent residence pathways, CBRE has supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship, which typically follows a period of full-time employment.
What qualifications does CBRE expect from Electrical Engineer candidates?
CBRE typically requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. Relevant experience with MEP systems, power distribution, building automation, or energy management strengthens your application considerably. For senior roles, a Professional Engineer license is often preferred. Candidates with project experience in commercial real estate, data centers, or large institutional facilities are well-positioned for CBRE's core hiring needs.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a CBRE Electrical Engineer hire?
The timeline depends on your visa category. For H-1B transfers, CBRE can typically file as soon as a role is confirmed, with USCIS standard processing taking three to five months and premium processing available within 15 business days. OPT candidates can often start sooner. For Green Card sponsorship through PERM, the full process, including DOL labor certification, commonly runs one to three years depending on your country of birth.
