Frame your credentials around critical systems
CBRE's Data Center hiring focuses on candidates with documented experience in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems in mission-critical environments. Translate your qualifications into that language before you apply, not after you get the interview.
Target postings that list LCA-eligible locations
CBRE operates Data Center projects across multiple metro areas with different prevailing wage tiers. Roles posted in lower-wage-tier markets can move through DOL Labor Condition Application certification faster, which shortens your overall timeline to a start date.
Ask HR whether your role is cap-exempt eligible
Some CBRE Data Center positions are tied to projects at universities or nonprofits. If your job site qualifies as a cap-exempt entity, you can file an H-1B petition outside the annual lottery, removing the biggest unpredictability from your sponsorship path.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Data Center roles
CBRE posts Data Center openings across job titles that don't always use consistent naming. Migrate Mate lets you filter CBRE's open positions by visa type and role category so you're applying to listings where sponsorship is already confirmed, not guessing from the job description.
Get your credentials evaluated before submitting
CBRE's Data Center teams often require degree verification for specialty occupation determinations. If you hold a non-U.S. engineering or technical degree, submit a NACES-member credential evaluation before USCIS filing to avoid a Request for Evidence that delays your start date.

Does CBRE sponsor H-1B visas for Data Centers?
Yes, CBRE sponsors H-1B visas for Data Center roles. The company has a consistent track record across multiple visa categories in this function, including H-1B and H-1B1 petitions. Sponsorship availability depends on the specific role and location, so confirming with the recruiter during initial screening is the right move.
How do I apply for Data Center jobs at CBRE?
Applications go through CBRE's careers portal at cbre.com/careers. For the most efficient path, use Migrate Mate to identify which open Data Center postings at CBRE are actively associated with visa sponsorship before applying. This saves time by filtering out roles where sponsorship is unlikely or unavailable for your visa category.
Which visa types does CBRE commonly use for Data Center roles?
CBRE sponsors across several visa categories for Data Center positions, including H-1B, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupations, F-1 OPT and CPT for students in active programs, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-tenured hires.
What qualifications does CBRE expect for Data Center roles?
CBRE Data Center roles typically require a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field, along with hands-on experience in critical facilities or mission-critical infrastructure. For specialty occupation H-1B filings, USCIS requires the degree to directly relate to the duties of the specific position offered.
How do I plan my timeline for CBRE Data Center visa sponsorship?
If you're targeting an H-1B, the annual cap lottery opens in March with an October 1 start date, so align your CBRE application and offer timeline accordingly. For OPT-to-H-1B transitions, your 60-day grace period and cap-gap protection matter. USCIS premium processing is available for H-1B petitions and can reduce adjudication to roughly 15 business days.
