Align your credentials to CBRE's project types
CBRE hires engineers for facilities, construction, and MEP-focused roles across commercial properties. Tailor your resume to reflect experience with building systems, capital project delivery, or portfolio-scale maintenance rather than industrial or manufacturing environments.
Target roles that match your visa category
CBRE sponsors multiple visa types including H-1B, TN, and OPT. If you're on F-1 OPT, apply to roles that can accommodate your remaining authorization window, and confirm the team has experience filing cap-subject H-1B petitions before the March registration deadline.
Use Migrate Mate to filter CBRE engineering openings
CBRE posts engineering roles across dozens of markets simultaneously, which makes it hard to identify which ones are realistically open to sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to browse CBRE's verified sponsoring engineering positions and target your applications more precisely.
Prepare a credentials evaluation before applying
If your engineering degree is from outside the U.S., get a foreign credential evaluation from a NACES-approved service before interviews begin. CBRE's HR teams processing H-1B petitions will need documentation confirming your degree is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's in a relevant engineering field.
Understand CBRE's PERM timeline for permanent roles
For engineering roles leading to Green Card sponsorship, CBRE typically uses the PERM labor certification process through DOL. That process can take 12 to 18 months before an I-140 is filed, so raise long-term sponsorship intentions early in final-round conversations.
Clarify the hiring manager's role in the sponsorship decision
At large real estate firms like CBRE, visa sponsorship approval often sits with a centralized HR or legal team, not the hiring manager. Ask specifically whether the business unit has approved sponsorship for the open headcount before you reach the offer stage.

Find Engineering at CBRE JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does CBRE sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, CBRE sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying engineering roles. The company works with immigration counsel to file H-1B petitions for engineers in specialty occupation positions such as project engineers, facilities engineers, and MEP roles. Sponsorship eligibility is typically confirmed during the offer stage, and filings must align with the annual USCIS registration window each March.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at CBRE?
Applications go through CBRE's careers portal, where engineering roles are listed by service line and location. Roles span project management, building systems, and technical facilities functions. To find positions that are realistically open to visa sponsorship, Migrate Mate filters CBRE's engineering listings specifically for international candidates, saving you from applying to roles where sponsorship is not on the table.
Which visa types does CBRE commonly use for Engineering roles?
CBRE sponsors a range of visa categories for engineers, including H-1B, H-1B1, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and J-1 for qualifying exchange programs. The company also works with F-1 OPT and CPT candidates and supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for engineers in long-term roles where PERM labor certification is appropriate.
What qualifications does CBRE expect for sponsored Engineering positions?
Most sponsored engineering roles at CBRE require a bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, civil, or a closely related engineering discipline. For specialty occupation H-1B filings, your degree must directly relate to the role. Practical experience with building systems, real estate construction cycles, or facilities operations is weighted heavily, and professional engineering licensure strengthens applications for project-facing roles.
How long does the visa sponsorship process typically take for a CBRE engineering hire?
For H-1B, USCIS standard processing runs three to five months after the April 1 filing date, with an October 1 start date. Premium processing reduces the adjudication window to 15 business days. TN sponsorship for Canadian nationals can be secured at the port of entry in a single day. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship takes significantly longer, often exceeding 18 months from initiation through I-140 approval.
