Align your credentials to CBRE's specialty occupation standard
CBRE Operations roles that qualify for H-1B sponsorship must meet USCIS's specialty occupation threshold. A degree in facilities management, construction management, or real estate is stronger than a general business degree when the role involves technical property or project operations.
Target CBRE's enterprise accounts and GWS division
CBRE's Global Workplace Solutions division manages large corporate real estate portfolios and runs consistent Operations hiring cycles. Roles tied to named enterprise clients tend to have more defined headcount and more structured sponsorship processes than ad-hoc regional postings.
Use OPT strategically before the H-1B cap window
If you're on F-1 OPT, time your CBRE start date so your 12 or 24-month OPT period bridges to the next H-1B cap season. USCIS registration opens in March, so starting before October gives you a full cycle to file without a gap in work authorization.
Verify your role qualifies before the offer stage
Not every Operations title at CBRE triggers sponsorship eligibility. Roles focused on vendor coordination or administrative scheduling are harder to classify as specialty occupations. Confirm the job description ties the degree requirement to a specific technical discipline before you reach the offer conversation.
Find Operations roles at CBRE that list sponsorship using Migrate Mate
Search CBRE Operations postings on Migrate Mate to filter for roles where visa sponsorship is confirmed. This saves time you'd otherwise spend applying to postings where the team hasn't committed to filing or where the position doesn't meet the specialty occupation bar.
Prepare for DOL prevailing wage requirements early
CBRE's HR team files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B petition. Knowing the prevailing wage for your Operations role and location helps you negotiate a compliant offer and avoids delays caused by salary adjustments after the LCA is filed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does CBRE sponsor H-1B visas for Operations roles?
Yes, CBRE sponsors H-1B visas for Operations positions that qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS criteria. Roles in facilities management, project operations, and real estate services that require a relevant bachelor's degree or higher are the strongest candidates. Not every Operations title will meet the specialty occupation threshold, so confirming the job description before applying is practical.
How do I apply for Operations jobs at CBRE?
Applications go through CBRE's careers portal, where Operations roles are listed by division, location, and function. Migrate Mate also aggregates CBRE Operations postings and filters for roles where visa sponsorship has been confirmed, which helps you prioritize applications. Tailoring your resume to highlight facilities, project coordination, or real estate operations experience improves your chances of getting through initial screening.
Which visa types does CBRE commonly use for Operations hires?
CBRE uses H-1B and H-1B1 visas for most Operations hires requiring long-term work authorization. F-1 OPT and CPT are commonly used for recent graduates entering operations roles before H-1B sponsorship is available. Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles may be eligible for TN visa status. CBRE also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for employees on longer tenures.
What qualifications does CBRE expect for Operations roles?
CBRE typically expects a bachelor's degree in facilities management, construction management, engineering, business, or a related field for Operations positions that qualify for sponsorship. Relevant certifications such as PMP or CFM strengthen your profile. For senior operations roles managing large portfolios or enterprise accounts, demonstrated experience with contract administration, vendor oversight, or capital project coordination is commonly expected.
How long does the sponsorship process take for a CBRE Operations role?
Timeline depends on the visa type. For H-1B, USCIS registration happens in March with an October 1 start date for cap-subject petitions, so the process can span six or more months. Premium processing is available and reduces USCIS adjudication to around 15 business days. If you're on OPT, CBRE can employ you while the petition is pending under cap-gap protection, provided the petition is filed before your OPT expires.
