Align Your Credentials with U.S. Standards
CBRE's construction roles often require licensure or certification recognized in the U.S., such as a PMP or LEED credential. If your home-country qualifications haven't been evaluated, get a credential assessment before applying so hiring managers can immediately verify equivalency.
Target CBRE's Project and Program Management Pipeline
CBRE consistently hires construction talent into project management and owner's rep functions, not just site trades. Positioning your resume around cost control, schedule management, and client-facing delivery aligns with where their sponsorship activity is concentrated.
Search Sponsored Construction Roles Through Migrate Mate
Not every CBRE construction listing signals sponsorship willingness upfront. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for CBRE roles that match your visa type, so you're only spending time on positions where sponsorship is already on the table.
Clarify OPT Cap-Gap Timing Before Accepting an Offer
If you're on F-1 OPT and CBRE extends an offer, confirm your employer understands the cap-gap extension rules. Your work authorization continues automatically if your H-1B petition is filed before your OPT expires and the October 1 start date hasn't yet passed.
Understand Where the LCA Fits in CBRE's Hiring Timeline
CBRE must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B petition to USCIS. This step takes up to seven business days and must happen first, so factor that into your expected start date when negotiating your offer.
Prepare for Specialty Occupation Documentation in Construction
USCIS scrutinizes H-1B petitions for construction roles more than office-based functions. Have your employer document why your specific position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, such as civil engineering or construction management, rather than general experience alone.

Does CBRE sponsor H-1B visas for Construction roles?
Yes, CBRE sponsors H-1B visas for construction roles, particularly in project management, program management, and cost management functions. Sponsorship is not automatic with every offer, so it's worth confirming directly with the recruiter early in the process. CBRE's legal and HR teams handle the USCIS filing once an offer is accepted and the DOL's Labor Condition Application is approved.
How do I apply for Construction jobs at CBRE?
You can apply through CBRE's careers portal or find open construction roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate. When applying, tailor your resume to CBRE's construction practice areas, including project delivery, cost management, and owner's representation. If you need sponsorship, state your visa status clearly in early recruiter conversations to avoid wasted time on roles where sponsorship isn't available.
Which visa types does CBRE commonly use for Construction roles?
CBRE supports several visa categories for construction hires, including H-1B, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican professionals in qualifying engineering and management roles, and F-1 OPT or CPT for students completing degrees. For longer-term hires, CBRE has also pursued EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does CBRE expect for sponsored Construction positions?
Most sponsored construction roles at CBRE require a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, architecture, or a closely related field. For H-1B eligibility specifically, USCIS requires that the degree be directly relevant to the position's duties. Practical experience in commercial or institutional construction is strongly preferred, and credentials like PMP, LEED AP, or PE licensure improve your profile significantly.
How long does the sponsorship and hiring process take at CBRE?
From offer to visa approval, the timeline depends on your current status and the visa type. H-1B petitions must be filed during the April cap season for an October 1 start, meaning the hiring process needs to begin well in advance. TN visas can move faster, sometimes within weeks. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship typically takes two or more years from initiation to approval, depending on DOL and USCIS processing backlogs.
