Frame your credentials around U.S. project delivery
STV's Construction work spans public infrastructure and transportation projects, so translate your international experience into U.S.-relevant terms. Highlight involvement in phased delivery, owner-side consulting, or program management to match how STV structures its engagements.
Target STV's infrastructure and transit programs
STV consistently staffs construction management and inspection roles on large transit and highway programs. Search for openings tied to specific corridor or transit authority projects, where long program timelines make sponsorship a more practical investment for the employer.
Align your visa timeline with STV's project cycles
Construction roles tied to multi-year public contracts give employers a clearer business case for H-1B sponsorship. If your OPT or CPT window is open, joining during a project's early phase gives STV enough runway to file before your authorization expires.
Clarify your construction specialization before interviews
STV hires across inspection, field engineering, and program controls. Know which function you're targeting and how your degree maps to it. USCIS requires a direct nexus between your academic background and the specialty occupation, so a general 'construction' pitch weakens your case.
Understand how PERM affects senior role timelines
If you're targeting a path to permanent residence through EB-2 or EB-3, PERM recruitment requirements add months to the process. STV supports Green Card sponsorship, but employers must complete DOL's recruitment steps before filing, so factor that into your longer-term career planning.
Browse Construction openings at STV through Migrate Mate
Filtering by role and visa type saves time when you're targeting a specific employer. Use Migrate Mate to surface current Construction openings at STV and identify which positions are actively seeking candidates who need sponsorship support.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does STV sponsor H-1B visas for Construction roles?
Yes, STV sponsors H-1B visas for Construction positions. The company operates as a consulting and professional services firm on infrastructure and transit programs, which routinely require specialized engineers and construction managers. H-1B eligibility depends on the specific role qualifying as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, meaning the position must typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field.
How do I apply for Construction jobs at STV?
You can find current Construction openings at STV through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can identify positions that match your authorization needs. When applying, tailor your resume to the specific program or project type listed in the posting. STV's Construction roles often sit within infrastructure or transit divisions, so aligning your application to the relevant service area strengthens your candidacy.
Which visa types does STV commonly use for Construction professionals?
STV sponsors several visa categories for Construction roles, including H-1B for specialty occupation workers, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering positions, and F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates early in their careers. For longer-term pathways, STV also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship, which involves the PERM labor certification process through the Department of Labor.
What qualifications does STV expect for sponsored Construction roles?
Most sponsored Construction positions at STV require a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a directly related discipline. For H-1B purposes, USCIS requires that the degree field align specifically with the job duties, so a general engineering background may not suffice for a specialized inspection or program controls role. Professional licensure, such as a PE or relevant certifications, strengthens applications for senior positions.
How do I time my application around STV's sponsorship process?
If you're on F-1 OPT, the H-1B cap-subject filing window opens each April 1 for an October 1 start date, so joining STV during the prior fall or winter gives your employer enough time to prepare the petition. OPT STEM extensions can provide a 24-month buffer if you qualify, reducing urgency around a single lottery cycle. TN holders face no annual cap and can start or transfer employment more flexibly.
