Align Your Credentials With NCEES Standards
BKF Engineers values licensed engineering professionals. Before applying, verify your civil or structural engineering credentials translate under NCEES guidelines. Foreign degrees often need evaluation to confirm equivalency for PE licensure eligibility, which strengthens your sponsorship case.
Target BKF's Infrastructure Project Specializations
BKF focuses heavily on land development, transportation, and utility infrastructure projects. Tailor your resume to reflect direct experience in those sectors. Generic construction backgrounds get filtered out quickly at consulting firms that bill clients by specialized expertise.
Browse Open Construction Roles Through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter BKF Engineers' active Construction openings specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility. This saves time compared to parsing general job boards where sponsorship status is buried or missing entirely.
Raise Sponsorship Early in Final-Round Conversations
At consulting firms like BKF, hiring decisions involve both project managers and HR. If sponsorship hasn't come up by the second interview, ask directly whether the role is open to EB-2 or EB-3 candidates so you're not surprised after an offer is extended.
Understand the PERM Labor Certification Timeline
EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship both require PERM labor certification through DOL before USCIS petition filing. This process typically takes 12 to 18 months and must be initiated by your employer. Factor that into your timeline if you're currently on a nonimmigrant status with an expiration date.
Document Project Scope and Billable Hours Carefully
For PERM-based green card filings, your employer must demonstrate the role is full-time and permanent. Keep records of your project assignments, hours, and scope of work from day one. This documentation supports the prevailing wage determination and audit defense if DOL requests additional evidence.

Find Construction at BKF Engineers JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does BKF Engineers sponsor H-1B visas for Construction roles?
BKF Engineers' primary sponsorship pathway for Construction roles is through employment-based Green Card categories rather than H-1B. If you're already in H-1B status with another employer, a transfer is possible, but candidates should confirm directly with BKF's HR team whether H-1B transfers are supported for specific Construction openings before proceeding.
Which visa types are commonly used for Construction roles at BKF Engineers?
BKF Engineers sponsors permanent residency through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card categories for Construction professionals. EB-2 typically applies to roles requiring advanced degrees or exceptional ability, while EB-3 covers positions requiring a bachelor's degree and professional experience. Both pathways involve PERM labor certification filed with DOL before the USCIS petition stage.
What qualifications and experience does BKF Engineers expect for Construction roles?
BKF Engineers is a civil engineering consultancy, so Construction roles typically require a degree in civil, structural, or related engineering disciplines. Hands-on experience in land development, transportation infrastructure, or utility projects is strongly preferred. Professional Engineer licensure or active pursuit of PE credentials adds significant weight to your application given BKF's client-facing project delivery model.
How do I apply for Construction jobs at BKF Engineers?
Search for BKF Engineers' active Construction openings on Migrate Mate, where listings are filtered by visa sponsorship availability so you can confirm eligibility upfront. When applying, tailor your resume to BKF's infrastructure and land development focus, highlight any PE licensure progress, and be prepared to address your visa status and timeline expectations early in the process.
How do I plan my timeline for Construction visa sponsorship at BKF Engineers?
If BKF Engineers sponsors your EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card, the PERM labor certification process alone typically runs 12 to 18 months with DOL before USCIS receives the petition. Country of birth affects priority date backlogs, which can extend total timelines significantly. Start the conversation with HR about sponsorship intent as early as the offer stage so there are no gaps in your work authorization.
